2017 Tenuta San Guido Guidalberto Toscana IGT Red Bordeaux Blend
Now this is a very good wine.
I don't agree with these reviews saying that it needs 10 years, but 10 years won't ruin it. It was very enjoyable after several hours of decant. It's quality, with a capital Q.
The texture was luxurious, reminiscent of those finest of Napa and Bordeaux, but for fraction of the cost. This is that $150 bottle for $45.

Double decant 5 hours before serving blind to wine lovers to get them to guess what this is. Betcha no one will even come close.

This is case worthy at this price.

I really enjoyed this, and might just buy a few more bottles, which I rarely do because my money always goes to exploration of new juice.

Appearance : medium ruby, with legs

On nose : medium intensity, red fruit : cherry, black fruit : plum skin, casis, red rice, vanilla oak, after 1hr, it turned to red plum, lichorice, tobacco, it is still developing. Very pleasent aroma and complexity and good integration.

On palate : dry, medium+ acidity, medium+ and smooth tannin, and I wonder it went though MLF. Sweet Red fruit forward such as plum on front palate, medium+ body on mid palate with elegance, medium+ flavour intensity and medium+ alcohol and black tea bitterness and a bit savoury finishing.

This is obviously an old world but new style one. If it is blind tasted, I will say it just like a Bordeaux grand cru. Carefully to differentiate, one can still find the firm and red fruit acidity came from the Italian Tuscan style. I love this wine as this is not an expensive super Tuscan (HKD $228 only)! You may choose to keep it for 5 more years but I will choose to open it now cos I love the fruitiness and territory flavour in balance. Cheers!
