This is a wonderful and compelling example of rich Cali syrah. Just superb and a stupendous QPR as a Garagiste mystery wine at under $20. Silly, actually. A terrific wine that is beautiful on it's own and a great accompaniment to chili, steak, BBQ, or anything else you would drink a rich syrah with. (I drank on its own and with a nice chili).

No detailed note. Fantastic champagne. Great balance, great flavor, medium bodied but palate-staining, with great acidity and drive. Love it.

Slight leakage with totally soaked cork that broke apart despite best attempt to remove carefully. Carmel-tinged garnet, clear. Captivating nose of red fruit, sweet red currant, spice, hints of graphite, blood, and milk chocolate. Sweet red fruit, with hint of chocolate covered cherry, nice balancing acidity and a hint of tannin. This is super smooth, suave and yet a little sauvage, as well..... and utterly delicious. May be my #2 Cali merlot ever (behind 1999 Arietta). SO impressive for a 31 year old cali merlot - stunning. The balance here is compelling and, along with superb fruit, probably what has allowed it to age so beautifully. 94-95 (ps. even Bonnie loved it, and she doesn't usually like older, "mature" wines that much).

Like my last bottle but a bit less primary and a bit more cigar and garrigue. Fruit is still nice. Whoever picked this up at auction for $4.63 got an amazing deal (assuming bottles in good shape)

PNP. Moderately deep garnet. Nice nose of dark red fruit and blackberry liquor, with some camphor wood/sandalwood spice. Quite captivating. Palate has some nice fruit with a touch of unresolved tannin, some dryness and a hint of stemmy bitterness; but, this is quite delicious. Warm earthy characteristic that would allow me to almost assuredly would pick this out as Italian, blind. Will the tannin completely fade before fruit dries out? not sure I'll wait to find out.

stefanakiko's 2014 note rings most true to my experience with this wine tonight. Bonnie likes it, too. 92-93. Decent value at just under $50.

I wish I had more of these.
On opening, I was a little disappointed and concerned as it lacked....well, just lacked - nothing terrible, just dumb and uninteresting. With 20 -30 minutes of air, however, this blossomed. This is really what I want in aged Brunello (I know it isn't that old, but...) - wild strawberry with a bit of currant, earth, a hint of saddle leather. I'm digging this. Went beautifully with spaghetti amatriciana and held up overnight corked.

Nice garnet color. Sweet Kirsch friut. Satiny texture. Rich. Manages to stay just this side of jammy/cloying because of some decent acidity and grip. Some early secondary development with a little garrigue and hint of cigar.

I'm going back and tasting my 2007 CdPs to see if I like and want to keep any or will sell. A horrifically overrated vintage, IMO, as so many are hot, overblown, mollydooker-esque messes. I was worried about this one on pnp as it was a tad blowsy, but after a little air it was very nice. Held up well in corked bottle on counter over a couple days, too.

Delicious, and exactly what I was looking for in a juicy, but not jammy, Italian with a little earth and spice and a bit of age. Yummy.

This just rocking, still. Stellar juice that is actually better with a little air, still. It has powerful flavors. I love this. I will be drinking my remaining few bottles soon. Wish Mike Neuffer were still making wines such as this.

Best showing, yet. Bottle purchased on release and stored professionally and in controlled home cellar; in pristine condition. Clear, deep garnet with hint of bricking at edge. Savory and red berry fruit. Actually, my last note from 2017 rings true, but this bottle, today, has better palate intensity, especially in mid-palate compared to prior bottles. Bonnie loves it, too. Terrific.

Warm, earthy nose of complex red fruits. Some spice. Tart jelly roll. Volatility without seeming alcoholic. So inviting. Cool Entry, which is nice balance to the warm nose. Tart acid is nice on sides of palate. Really delicious. I like the balance of warm, spicy nose with cool cut on palate. And, it’s just really yummy. I can see this developing into something even more special with a couple years.

Christmas Eve. This is top-notch. Maybe should even score a point or two higher. Hits all the buttons and nothing too much or too little. Be sure not to over-chill, as this is definitely more enjoyable several degrees above refrigerator temp. Plenty of life left in it, too.

Still going strong from my cellar (professional storage, though). Lovely wine and a great QPR. Held up well for >24 hours corked, but I wouldn't wait too long on these.

Still gorgeous. The nose is amazing. This bottle slightly more savory with less prominent fruit than the last. Wish I had bought more. This is a special and unique tasting experience.

Cab franc dominant but not excessively herby/green, so I actually like it. Nice texture, flavor and combo of fruit with some savory elements. Held up well corked on counter for 3 days. Very nice.

1st night opened, and I don't know if I was just in a gewurz mood, or what, but this just hit every note perfectly right on the get-go. One of the best gewurz's I've ever had - it was just spectacular and even better than previous 2 bottles. Phenomenal with tikka masala. Lost its vibrancy over 2 days in fridge, corked, but still quite yummy. What a terrific wine. Bonnie loved it, too. Have to search out some more from this producer and see if they are still making such wonderful wine. What a steal at auction for under $20.

lovely true Burgundian nose. Nice palate - tannin a little firm with tinge of bitterness on the finish initially - after 30 min in glass, this disappears. Plenty of fruit left but also showing secondary characteristics. Quite lovely. No greenies. 91-92. Perhaps I'd rate it higher if I had it blind and didn't know it was Grand Cru.
Red
Deep garnet, clear, with still a hint of violet at the edge. Classic bojo fruit on the nose with no signs of development of secondary characteristics aromatically. Crunchy, fresh berries on the nose, repeats on the palate - still a little tart...good acid and some firm minerality. This is early drinking for a wine of this breed and character for me, and I think it will still improve from here. My 2005 Beaujolais are developing at a glacial pace, and I haven't had one yet that was on the downward slope. Stored professionally since release.

Wow! Fabulous. If it weren't a tad atypically rich for Chablis and a little less racy and mineral than I would like (which I noticed when paired with some delicious, briny oysters) this would score even higher. Drinking à point, I imagine. I really love this.

Can't say it better than rocknroller, whose note is a perfect reflection of the bottle I just opened tonight (was Coravin'd a few months back):
"Dark red color with bricking over the margin.... Loved the classic nose, red fruits, savory, saddle leather, dried spices, roasted meat. The palate is medium full boded, cherry, black cherry and plum, dried herbs and bacon fat, wood spice, moderate fine tannins. Got better through the night."

For me, this is too ripe and alcoholic, though it is not super heavy. It has very nice flavor and, if you are into the newer-style CDP (Parkerized, 2007 style) you will love this, at it is similar but with more pure fruit and not quite as heavy.

Reticent, initially. After 2+ hours open, this nose is now beginning to burst open with dark berry fruit, spice, and saddle leather. A little umami character. Clean and delicious on the palate. I am suspecting this might even be better on day 2. Paired beautifully with a house-made pasta with spicy Merguez sausage, broccoli rabe, and lots of garlic. Yum!

deep garnet with still a violet tinge at the edge.
Takes a little time to open fully, still, though it is tasty right from the get-go on the PNP. Great balance. This has lovely fruit, terrific texture and nice acidity. Such a nice wine and drinking beautifully, still.
Reading AG's review/note after writing the above, it is amazing how true his note still rings. The fruit has proved intense enough to stand up to the oak, which is still noticeable but has certainly receded in prominence and is most apparent on the slightly drying finish. Still, I think this will continue to drink beautifully for several more years and, perhaps - just maybe, even to it's 20th birthday.

Wow! I was expecting to hate this wine and dump it down the drain, based on my prior experiences with this producer (prematurely oxidized and OTH has been my prior experience). I have to admit that at first whiff I wasn't sure I was going to like this, but first perception can sometimes be wrong! This is a strange and idiosyncratic wine, to be sure, and there is NO way that I would have called Sancerre on this. The nose offers up tart grapefruit and preserved lemon with only the very slightest hint of grassiness - and that likely only because I am trying hard to find it. Once one knows it is botrytised sauvignon blanc, it all makes sense. The acidity is obvious on the nose and comes through strong on the palate and is a great contrast to the botrytis. The flavor is like a mix of lemon/lime with grapefruit. This is REALLY tart with a great acidic cut, but it is palate coating, as well, and not at all austere. I keep going back for more. Really, really like this. Even better on day 2.

From my cellar, this is drinking beautifully, right now. I have to point out that this went right into professional storage when I took delivery of it some 9 years ago and has been sitting there ever since. I have to agree with all the more recent positive notes below. This is pretty classic nebbiolo and strong contender for best $20 (delivered!) nebbiolo I've ever had.

Just terrific wine. Deep, smokey and complex. Plenty of fruit to balance the smokiness and earthiness. Brambly. Really interesting and delicious. This bottle was great right on opening.
Addendum: I just read Galloni's note from 2010 and think it is spot-on.

This wine is still silly good. Pours deep gold at this point. Was a little on the sweet side on first opening but with some air it balances out and, as before, starts somewhat fruity/sweet but finishes dry on the palate. This improved markedly with 30-60 minutes of air....it was gone within an hour and a half. I discovered a great match: it paired amazingly with blistered shishito peppers! It was also a great match for pork shank.
