11/23/22, 3:02 PM - I quit buying expensive wines over a year ago including Cayuse, just never got around to drinking them. That save for a rainy-day train has left the station.
6/18/21, 9:46 PM - One of my favorites from these people.
5/17/21, 2:54 PM - I went pretty strong on the early years and still have a few left. As others began to appreciate them and the prices rose in response, I stepped back and got the opportunity to start buying the neighbors wines.
3/18/21, 12:01 AM - Chris has been singing the praises for several years so I thought I better buy a few this year and give a taste.
12/31/20, 10:17 PM - I had a taste of one of these a number of years ago at a WA Syrah/Rhone wine dinner. I brought a Rasa QED. Half the value and it got top billing.
12/13/20, 3:25 PM - This may have been my last Garagiste order and it took so long to deliver, I gave up ordering after that. Should be well aged and ready to drink.
9/30/20, 9:45 AM - I opened a bottle last night, went to log it and could not find my entry. Sure glad you added the redacted to your note. I'm a bit on the OCD spectrum as my wife can attest, but I like to not have loose ends. A very good wine for a very reasonable price. I have bought a number of Tempranillos from them over the years.
8/10/20, 12:14 AM - Rasa is a regular buy on the affordable end, they make some terrific Rhone style wines. I gift many and always get appreciative comments which sure helps my wine geek reputation. A lot of mileage out of a sub $20 wine.
6/12/20, 10:01 PM - I better start drinking some of mine. I moved on the OR PN, but daughter, hubby and friends like a bolder wine than I do these days.
6/10/20, 8:52 PM - I originally asked Michael Alberty @ StoryTeller if anyone makes an OR Syrah, then B-H and Matello. I think I bought some of the last B-H Deux Vert and continue to buy anything by Matello/Goodfellow. Todd makes some terrific PN these days.
6/8/20, 3:04 PM - I started buying with the '08 and tapered off as the price started to rise. I have a bunch that I need to start drinking. I do not mind a little funk, but now prefer a more restrained wine. '11 is a good year that I like & buy.
6/9/20, 9:26 AM - I started drinking a lot of WA Syrah about that time, liking a full bodied fruity wine, since then I have taken to OR PN, so a lot of these Syrah are languishing in the cellar. They do make good gifts and sharing with other who like a more bold, fruity wine.
5/31/20, 11:45 PM - It's been years since I tasted one of these, only a few left. I've moved on the AFWE PN these days. I remember opening one and just letting the bouquet waft out. They needed a couple of days open and got good and took a week to fade. I will just gift the remaining to the younger crowd who will more better appreciate them.
6/3/20, 6:53 PM - AFWE refers to a term coined by Parker, Anti Flavor Wine Elite, as a put down, then taken by those of us liking a more balanced restrained wine compared to a fruit bomb.
5/26/20, 1:01 PM - I have always been fond of these daily entry level wines. Great for gifting and sharing.
5/27/20, 10:03 AM - I also bought some of the '17 Occam's Razor, curious to see the comparison between the two.
5/12/20, 9:46 AM - Drinking the '13 version which is really good now.
5/7/20, 5:08 PM - I agree not a lot of Riesling flavors, a replacement for the wife's P Gris likes.
4/13/20, 9:39 PM - I used to buy a fair amount, but gradually limited to club sales. It was pushing the envelop form me, finally after the buy out canceled the club. The wines after '10 were uniformly quite good to my palate.
4/12/20, 7:56 PM - Probably my favorite from these guys. Got a bunch on loyalty sales.
2/25/20, 4:11 PM - One of my favorite vineyards from a favorite AVA.
2/14/20, 2:16 PM - The '13s are coming along nicely.
12/18/19, 11:37 PM - I gifted one to my daughter to share with friends on a skiing trip to the mountain and they came back with glowing reviews. I think they liked it.
12/12/19, 1:44 PM - It was a favorite back in the day, still have a few left from those years.
10/30/19, 2:19 PM - I enjoyed these in my Wash exploration days. Bold and let breath for a couple of days when young. Not sure I would like them as much now in my AFWE days. Bought quite a few on closeout and have a couple left in the cellar.
9/11/19, 11:48 AM - Agreed on the '11s.
7/26/17, 8:53 AM - I liked the '13 more than I like the '14 at this stage. I would have thought the other way. Drinking most of the '14s and saving the '13s at this point.
5/6/19, 12:14 AM - Definitely worth the wait, a '96 Bethel Heights with a similar profile got me back into OR PN.
5/2/19, 6:28 PM - A fan of both their Syrah and Sangiovese.
4/23/19, 3:52 PM - First CA Zin in many years, bought some Joseph Swann Zin some time ago and was suitably impressed. Drank too much of the cheap stuff long ago and need to make amends.
4/11/19, 11:50 AM - I finally canceled my club shipments in favor of buying other wines at a lower price point. I do think the WK wines have been more liking to my palate starting with the '10 & '14 vintages. I can get some of my favorites for half the price these days and the money stays local.
4/5/19, 12:25 AM - I opened one to check on whether I wanted to continue ordering. I think not, can get other WA Temp for 1/3 the cost that delivers similar satisfaction and I like WA Temp from the valley. Took a taste and then gave to daughter to take to a diner party so not able do a full note on this bottle.
4/10/19, 8:35 AM - I've been regularly buying Temporal Cellers from Full Pull @$17/ bottle. I believe it is produced by Idilico who specialize in Spanish varietals. It may not be of the class of the Cayuse bunch, but for the money most are quite pleased and I can share at will.
4/4/19, 8:42 AM - A regular buy in our house. You need not spend a lot for a good wine.
4/1/19, 12:15 AM - Interesting to compare along side a Delmas
4/1/19, 12:13 AM - Bought quite a few on inventory reduction. Lovely and a go to wine for me. Both '14 and Bjornson are favorites. '13s are drinking well also when they finally came around. I may have some '11s that need more time. It takes about 3 days for me to finish off a bottle and they are always good to the end.
3/18/19, 8:56 PM - Bjornson is probably my favorite SVG from 7ofH, especially when they have a cellar reduction sale. One of my go to wines across all vintages.
1/19/19, 9:37 PM - I drank some '15 last night and thought I need to get some more. I looked it up and saw I have some '16 ordered. Sure hope it is as good as the '15 which was every bit as good as the Brunello I drank at more than twice the cost the night before.
1/13/19, 10:58 PM - Sounds like my kind of wine. The Rocks funk.
12/27/18, 10:20 AM - It's been almost 5 years since I tried one of these, too jammy for me then, maybe it's time to try another one. '10 was a great year on the wet side of the mountains, I prefer the '11s on the dry side and drank my last one the other day.
12/9/18, 9:22 PM - I have actually found the WK wines from 2010 much more liking to my palate, been in the wine club for over 20 years, but lately only buy the club offers and decided to spend my money on other wines from the hood that I drink on a regular basis. The Jackson's do not need my money and I like to chat with the winemaker on occasion, either in person or online.
12/2/18, 10:07 AM - I started buying on a promise of spectacular wines. None of the reviews give me much hope they will perform. Over rated and over priced for me. Quit buying years ago.
11/19/18, 11:57 PM - The subsequent bottle was much more to my liking, so thinking this one was an off bottle. I picked up some '14 Random CF and will open one to compare, the '13 was to my liking and sourced from a vineyard near John Day. Oregon may need to specialize in the cool climate versions and WA warm climate versions which they do very well.
11/22/18, 9:13 PM - Your comment on your name rhyming with Denice clued me in. Retired after 40 years running my own business, Thurman Cabinets NW. Leased out my space and do a bit of hobby, home stuff in another shop that bought my equipment.
11/23/18, 12:45 PM - I just like to cross connect posters on WB and CT, mostly through their TNs when I see the similarity between the two. Sometimes more obvious than other times. BTW my daughter really likes that last bottle I opened. My wife is in the Pinot Gris waste land.
11/22/18, 12:15 AM - I buy a lot of WA wines from FP, now mostly cool years and not much BDX, fond of the Spanish and Italian varietals, toss in CF and Rhone blends.
11/18/18, 9:40 AM - The first Cayuse and first wine I bought from Storyteller. He had three on the shelf and I kick myself for not buying all three.
11/16/18, 2:53 PM - I read lately that Sean Boyd is the winemaker for both, maybe owns both. Both labels are favorites of mine, he knows how to work with Syrah and Rocks fruit.
11/3/18, 9:00 AM - I'll drink to that, half way through my original 9 bottles. Definitely compares to wines double the price. Thanks to Scott for making this happen with the Rasa folks. While I drink more OR Pinot these days, I get a lot of street cred when I open one of these for friends and family.
11/2/18, 8:23 AM - I have one left from a case on your rec many years ago. One of the few CA wines I regularly buy, almost Oregon anyway. I usually send a bottle up north to friends when visiting.
9/29/18, 8:32 AM - We did a comparison with some local Melon which were quite good, but this rose above the others. Liked so well by a neighbor, I gave her a bottle to take home.
9/11/18, 10:23 PM - Some people love them, others do not. Hard to tell unless you sample them. My palate has changed over the years and full bodied wine are no longer appealing. I quite buying several years a go and am just waiting for the fruit to fade, then drink away the error of my ways.
9/11/18, 10:31 AM - Have yet to drink any of mine, hope they fair better than yours. Will wait a few more years, though I am not hot on Syrah these days, others love them, but a bit steep tariff for gifting.
9/8/18, 10:39 PM - Even better with another year of age, my other '13s have gone from austere to well balanced body and fruit.
8/19/18, 1:37 PM - I used to buy, but the value never reflected the price for me. Also tired of big wines in favor of restrained OR Syrah.
6/10/18, 10:35 PM - For a third the cost of big brother's wine, an easy buy for me.
6/4/18, 2:41 PM - I've commented before that some of my descriptors come from my early years living on the family farm where my cousins pointed out native foods growing in the pasture and local woods. Himalayan or evergreen blackberries, huckleberries and sorrel being a few along with salmonberries and blackcaps(raspberries). I have a glass a night and it develops differing flavors each time as it gets more air. I just leave corked on the counter and follow the development.
