Great wine- structured and with good fruit. To me the best NZ Pinot along with Felton Road. Was drunk after a 2004 Volnay from Lafon. And sat in the company absolutely fine- quite different - a far more masculine wine than the Volnay as one would expect

You sometimes forget what Comte Lafon can do with red wine. They are made with all the same passion and skill as his whites. This was a lovely wine still showing really good fruit and structure. Lovely pretty wine with all the finesse one expects of an excellent Volnay

A little disappointing. Really a bit thin and for a 2005 without the body and texture one would expect.

Very elegant and for the price point really very good. Perhaps the tannins are a little pronounced but still good fruit showing through. It has been my "go to" base Barbaresco for the last 12 months and has stood up well against some more fancied other examples.

Really lovely, superb example. Lots of burnt orange and zest. One of the better champagnes I have had in recent times and consistent across two bottles.

A little tired. Really past its peak. Drunk with a 1999 Vieux Donjon which was showing a lot better. Consistent with a bottle which I drank about 12 moths ago.

A really lovely wine- incredible balance and poise. A wonderful nose which reminded me of a very good vosne romanee. A really sophisticated wine with great structure which I often find missing in New Zealand Pinot- easily the best Kiwi Pinot I have drunk.

Was drinking well for its age. I didn't have great expectations but was still showing good length and structure. Certainly not over the hill. A little one dimensional but showing some complexity on the nose. Drink up.

Really lovely wine- drunk with a Ten Minutes by Tractor Wallis Vineyard from the same year. Far more restrained than the Ten Minutes, but lovely balance and structure. Will continue to improve for the next 3 to 5 years. Lovely silky wine with the structure to continue to age well.

Drunk with a 2006 Main Ridge Estate 1/2 Acre Pinot Noir for comparison. Whilst the Main Ridge was quite restrained, the Ten Minutes had a lot more perfume on the nose. Good balance and really drinking very well, lovely silky and textured wine with good intensity. Good example of how the Mornington Peninsula has come along in leaps and bounds in recent years. Hard to pick between the two wines- both were very good but different which I think is a reflection of two winemakers really respecting the terroir of their vineyards.

An extremely well crafted wine. Drinking very well. Beautiful balance with good integration. Not overly oaked- in comparison to 2 very good Australian Chardonnays drunk at the same time (a 2000 Giaconda and a 2000 Mount Mary). Lovely apple/pears characteristics and a lovely straw coloured. Remarkable youthful for a 13 year old wine and will continue to develop well for a few years to come (this said, it is drinking extremely well at present).

I must admit I tend to dislike sauvingnon blanc. However, Dider Dagueneau's wines are the exception. This is a lovely wine with none of the overbearing herbaceous which you see in so many sav blancs. It is still has the tropical fruit nose which one would expect but it is reserved and refined with wonderful fruit. A truly lovely wine which rivals the best white burgundies.
