Low/missing on tannins and finish. Med acids. Sweet red Fruit fwd. Hence, not that balanced or noteworthy.

96 pt rating by a pro... Ahem

Sehr guter Alltagswein. Reife Leistung zu einem unschlagbaren Preis!

from med-dark amber 375,poorly stored. moderately oxidized but still attractive fruit in nose with even a bit of floral lift. tasty madeira-like oxidized taste is a bit harsh but quite pleasant overall: strong orange-apricot flavour qwith a more delicate honey overlay. viscous and full-bodied. very sweet, but just enough acid to balance. lingering echo in finish is quite fine.

8/8/17, 5:57 PM - Frankly, if you're going to create your own ratings system you should do it on another site; perhaps create your own. The validity of the reviews here is based on contributors rating via the same scale. Creating your own scale and adding it to the reviews throws the entire system out of calibration. How is that to the benefit of all of those who use cellartracker?
If you don't want to use the standard system you should create your own website. Rating this wine a 71 is insulting to the rest of us here on cellartracker.

Bought for a braise but I almost feel bad dumping it in there it's so good. Really classic southern Rhone Grenache with lots of levity and freshness.

After seeing the huge variation in scores on this wine, I have to wonder if we're drinking the same thing. I originally felt there was some good potential here, especially for the price. I've been stealing a sip here and there as I used this wine over the years for braising short ribs or making Boeuf Bourguignon. It never disappointed. Now, with only six bottles left out of two cases, I've begun drinking it and am stunned by some of the really low scores. I'm not going to inflate the score simply because it was cheap and tastes great, I'm scoring it for what I believe it is: a really nice bottle of wine. It has toned down bit by bit over the years and now seems to be at its best. I think an end date of 2016 is a bit short, so I'll open my remaining bottles every couple of months and report back.
Tonight we'll have the half bottle left from last night, with salmon and green beans.
