Acid. Bit of brett maybe? Not horrible but a bit one dimensional given how good this winery can be.

Racy backbone of salinity and acid. An amazing wine for the non-single vineyard designation. Honeysuckle and key lime pie on the back end. An amazing effort for the “cheap” Aubert. 😁

Unctuous. Tart lemon and mango with biting acid. This one seems a bit off from earlier bottles. Acid and pucker kind of overwhelms here. Still great. May just be having a bit of a lull.

Has been a bit since I’ve had a Relentless. This one seems to lack some of the depth of previous bottles and vintages. Still a very nice wine. The tannins have mellowed but there’s still a solid line of oak through the palate of plums and blackberries.

Great value. Classic kabitnett on the nice and with first impressions on the palate but tan the sweetness quickly disappears to wet stone and acid. Lovely wine and insane QPR.

Has definitely improved with time. Pale straw with dried apricot and Meyer lemon notes. Good qpr for a Tuesday night wine with grilled chicken.

Fantastic. Brioche and white peach with a hint of oak to hold everything together. Top notch.

Still very young. Bold tannins overwhelm at first and eventually give way to ripe plum and blackberry. Over ounce a mountain cab. Will let the remaining bottles rest a bit longer.

Has dropped out of its weird buttery phase and back onto saline and mineral overtones. Sharp acid with white peach, Meyer lemon and honeysuckle. Lovely expression of CC. All that said, given the price point you could probably find a nice burgundy clone from Sonoma for about half the price that would hold up well to this wine.

Tight Burgundian style. Hardly any oak. Saline spine with Meyer lemon and honeysuckle on the nose. One bottle remaining that I may let sit for a couple more years.

Very nice California cab. Evolved over a couple hours. White pepper on the nose with nice dark but not overbearing fruits. Not super complex but a nice wine to have with a grilled steak on a Wednesday night.

Bold but not overbearing. Plum and dark fruits with tannins that hold it together but don’t overwhelm. Just a hint of oak. Suspect it will continue to evolve in the bottle.

Has not lost any of its heft. A Phinney muscle bound red. Exploding fruits almost jammy. This is a particular style that some will love and some will hate. I’m in the middle. It’s not an easy quaffing wine but it’s a fun example of that winemakers can do when they set the amp to 11.

Drinking well but surprisingly light for a Marguaux. Blackberries give way to pencil lead and tobacco that are still supported by some stiff tannins. Not sure if this will evolve much more.

A tough vintage and it shows. Some strong tannins continue to linger even on day 2. Plum and pencil lead. Not bad but nowhere close to the truly great versions of this wine.

A solid wine from Rhys but not their best. Don’t get me wrong, this is an excellent wine just not quite at the level of some of their others. A bit one dimensonal, dark fruits and saddle leather. Shows potential to get better with time.

Has really developed into a sublime wine with the bottle age. Too bad this is my last bottle. Soft and supple dark fruits with cassis and vanilla. Just a touch of tannins to give some structure but doesn’t overwhelm. Really great wine.

Improving a bit with age. Tannins are fairly muted and acid is higher than would expect from a Margaux. Tart fruits cigar box flavors.

Classic St E. Strong tannins give way to tobacco and leather but some bright dark fruits still come through. Drinking well, could probably last another 10+ years in the bottle.

Drinking really well right now. Not the most complex or intriguing pinotnout there but has a great harmony of acid and fruit with just enough tannins to give it some “oomph” with it overpowering the fruit.

Maybe shutting down a bit? Brambles and tar, heavy for a Pinot with a lot of acid and tannins. I like it but not what I was expecting. Will let the remaining bottle sit a couple more years.

Still a bruiser though perhaps getting towards the end of its drinking window (or just closing down a bit)? Tannins dominate the mouthfeel with briar and dark fruits. Not quite as good as I seem to remember prior bottles.

Am exceptional wine that’s really drinking well after a few years in the bottle. Very much a California cab but brings out the beauty of the BTK vineyard without being overbearing or jammy. A muted nose but explodes on the palate with cassis, kirsch and tannins that still manage to give a lot of structure without overpowering the fruit. Sad to say this was my last bottle and I’m not ready to touch the 2013s...
