From magnum. Very disappointing. Thin, lacking fruit, stringent and a bit sour. No sun in this wine. This may be a second cru but as far as I am concerned this is an empty suit. What a pity and waste of money. I have a number of mags left; hopefully this was an off bottle but more likely that Parker was right with his original verdict.

Brilliant bottle, double magnum. decanted five hours in advance. Classic Bordeaux with all the secundary and tertiary flavors you would expect. A slight hint of sour but this was not disturbing. All in all classical Bordeaux experience with large bottle, always a relief if they show well...

Drank this during Christmas; of the four bottles, two were oxydized/flawed/corked whatever. Brett brothers live up to their name. Will not buy them again as I had a score of 1/3 bad bottles of a 6pack. Seems to be the problem with many of the Burgundy whites these days. Should drink them young. Oh, the wine, as good as ever for the pristine bottles, nice minerality, vanilla, oak not overdone, in a lean and mean style and gaining personality as the wine got more air and warmed up a bit.

Muted, closed, next bottle in 3 years. Good nose, mocca, bit of burnt raisins, new style St. Emilion, heavy, needs to mellow out. Again, next bottle not before 2013.

The usual good QPR but I am spoiled by drinking too much of the LG 2001 vintage which IMHO was much butter. All Sauternes characteristics are there peaches, orange, citrus, acidity but a taster mentions a wateriness and he strikes a point.

Nice bourgogne, nothing to get excited about. Could improve with a bit more maturity but I have my doubts. Could not taste the fabled 2005 vintage in this Burgundy. Not as good as Patrice Rion's Burgundy.

very dark, very intense and in your face. not quite ready and still very primal. This wine does have potential, very firm tannins and lots of fruit (nice mix of cassis and prumes/raisins). Will be interesting to see how any secondary aroma's will develop in this wine over the next few years.

This showed very well. Nice dark golden colour. Nose of honey, peach and violet. Good acidity and petroleum flavours. Fantastic wine in an assumingly not great vintage for Sauternes. This was with Cheese (Stilton).

Like previous tasting notes but this time I found the fruit somewhat lacking, particularly in comparison with the 96 Sociando. Still a nice bottle to go with diner of hare filet mignon.

Nice golden colour, good minerality and good balanced puligny. No sign of oxidation for this Sauzet (only 1 bottle left...). Nice texture and good finish. This is in a good sweet spot of the drinking window.

Classic medoc, earthly and horsey flavours with some notes of petroleum and black current. Nice mature claret with well-integrated tannins. Drinking well. This was the first of a case from Christies, not disappointed and looking forward to drinking the remaining 11 over the next 5 years.

Bought EP, finally delivered, immediately cracked a bottle. Very good Margaux in early phase of (likely lengthy) drinking window.
Lots of fruit, nicely balanced. Second half of bottle was even better today with nicely integrated tannins and young fruit. Excellent Bordeaux, fine value.

Dark colour, somewhat breaking at the rim. Very nice aroma of cigarbox, cassis and autumn leaves. Reminded me somewhat of the D'armailhac 1996 (Pauillac). This is my kind of wine. Sociando rarely disappoints, one of the best PQ wines available (certainly in 1996).

Dark ruby colour. Aroma's of dark fruit, licorice, espresso and tabacco. Reminds me of the 1996 d'Armailhac. Many years to go. Found this a good effort for 2003 as the wine is not top heavy, burnt or too heavy.

This was a big disappointment. Over-oaked vanilla bomb in a style that does not resemble the Margaux terroir at all. This is so typically new world (but then in an unsophisticated way). Have doubts whether aging will add any complexity to the wine. This is now very one-dimensional and because the oak/vanilla is so dominant with soft tannins, I have doubts whether this will gain anything in the coming years. One for the auction house.

Paired with Coquilles St. Jacques. Last of a dozen purchased in 2001. This wine is at the end of its drinking window. Was slightly concerned that bottle would be oxydized but concern disappeared when the wine got more air. Nice nose of older white Burgundy. Tasted butterscotch, caramel, cream and nuts and some hints of citrus in background. All in all definately enjoyable and even more so because I like my Burgundy generally younger than this one.

Dark/purple. Nice smell, tasty black/blue fruit. This has a very nice primary dimension with a good balance of tannins, fruit, and silky texture. There is more than a hint of cream topped with some oaky flavours. Not out of balance though and still very much Bordeaux. All in all, an excellent showing for Lagrange in this difficult year. Looking forward to 2010/2012 when this wine's secondary dimension will become more accessible. Should be good.

This was a very nice albeit somewhat young Meursault. Coupled with sole filets rolls and some pasta with shrimps.
Nicely put together, oak well restrained, fresh and not yet entirely smooth. That may take another 2-3 years.
