I have acquainted myself with Melville Winery on various occasions and am very fond of their cool, subtle, complex, and berry-flavored wines with fine acidity and well-balanced structure. Sandy’s is an excellent Pinot Noir that is enjoyed with great pleasure already now.

A personal favorite... a story and relationship that I won't delve into here and now, but it should be mentioned that we've been hanging out since the '90s. Over 10 years have crafted a perfect balance, and according to my preferences, it doesn't get better than this. The Cabernet fruit is seductive, and it's almost ridiculously beautiful how they've managed to enchant 13.8% alcohol to a sippability level like no other. Best enjoyed alone or with light snacks... insanely delicious! 77% Cabernet, 16% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec.

Great Pauillac which is drinking very well now. Classic cassis and cedar but lots of green tones which is somewhat surprising due to the dominance of Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend.

Great Chenin Blanc from a great producer. Still very young and quite shut down direct from the bottle, needs a lot of air to open up. To be lay down for some years but surely worth waiting for.

Qualitative Cahors of a certain age should not be underestimated!
Would love to have boxes of this…what a drinking pleasure!!
Stable as from a better Bordeaux, cherry, cedar, licorice stick and pipe tobacco.
The tannins have softened and the alcohol stays at a pleasant 13%.

One of our absolute favorite producers in the northern Rhône, of which you should always buy large quantities.
Atypical character with clear blackberries, salt licorice, raw meat and tapenade.
Northern rhone syrah pornography at the highest level!

Summer evening and the absolute best Aligoté we have ever tried! Formally love the wines from Alice et Olivier De Moor…
Golden and smooth with green apples, pears and grilled lemon.
Some herbs, floral tones, yeast, intense acid and prominent minerals… as a great BdB Champagne without any bubbles.

Altesino Montosoli 2015 taste dark chocolate praline with a core of cherry liqueur, licorice bar, almonds and a little underlying green tones of something that will be integrated with age.
The label claims an alcohol of 14.5% but it doesnt show at all.
A superbrunello that certainly is young but very much enjoyable already now.

Valette premiere and quickly understood that here you can obviously analyze yourself to death ...
Lightly oxidized style with aroma of beeswax, powdered lime, grilled lemon, lychee, almonds and popcorn.
Oily structure, solid acids and silky smooth in the palate.
100% unfiltered Chardonnay but becomes almost a Chenin Blanc look-a-like.
Fantastically good and tonight only with some matching cheese and charcuterie.

Young and rustic with dark grumpy fruit, a large scoop of spices and a little blood grape/orange. It is definitely in its youth and not completely in line with our taste buds right now.
However, we know what (usually) will come and it will probably be nice with some time in the cellar.

2018 Puligny-Montrachet 1st Cru Les Folatieres from Jean-Louis Chavy is of course young but still so seductively available right now. A little fat, apples in mixed colors, fine ground acids and an interpretation of the chardonnay grape that hits exactly in our Burgundian epicenter. Big sips and big smile!

Vintage 2015 is not entirely pinot-ish in the first sniff ... dark fruit in the form of strawberries and cherries. Furthermore coca-cola, eucalyptus, violets, licorice and gravel dust minerals.
A clear citrus freshness in the long aftertaste is the finishing touch to this flirty and well-polished creation.
Simply damn good!

2018 Cartology from South African Alheit consists mainly of Chenin Blanc but also includes a bit of Semillon.
Initially a slightly musty scent that then opens up with beeswax, rapeseed, elderberry, tutti frutti, grilled lemon and matchstick. Complexity in the palate and singing in the mouth ... this works 24/7/365!

Thomas Picos 2016 Domaine Pattes Loup Chablis 1er Cru Butteaux from the small village of Courgis is something very special.
Biodynamic. Manual harvesting. Nothing added, nothing removed. Only natural yeast. Stored in old French oak barrels for about 24 months and bottled completely without clarification or filtration.
We best describe the fruit as apple pie and it takes a good while before the natural wine musty aroma is toned down. Relatively oily character, hearty but nicely integrated acids and an incredibly fine saltiness and minerality at the end.
Have never drunk a Chablis like this but we definitely want to explore the style and learn more!

Diebolt-Vallois' prestige foam Fleur de Passion in the 2012 bottling is directly from the bottle, strikingly anonymous. However, it does not take long before the fragrance palette in this BdB opens up in the form of red apples, exotic fruit, almonds and brioche. Fat and creamy with real pressure in the acids that etch into the palate in the long aftertaste.
Very good, as always, and of course there is more to pick up for those who have patience.

After 8 hours in open air La Turque starting to really show what this is all about.
Initially very dark and raw...dark fruit, oak, vanilla and a lot of minerals. During the evening it slowly opens up and show hints of the spectrum which will be fully available within another 5-10 years lying down in bottle.
A truly superb wine from a quality producter.

The remaing bottles should rest for a couple of years which will harmonize the general impression.

Clear dominance of lingonberries and loads of acid.
However we love the style, fresh, flirty and only 12% alcohol. Will be a pure pleasure to drink within 3-5 years (and then score will probably reach at least 92).
