Not what I’m looking for in a rosé.. Lacked fruit, too woody. Not a great review, but not a great wine.

5/8/22, 9:37 AM - I’m not sure what to make of the wines from here lately.. A few more misses than hits for me the last few bottles.

Really peaking right now, very glad to have had it. It was an extravagance but worth experimenting versus the 2018, which it soundly thrashed.
  • crowino commented:

2/27/22, 7:37 PM - It has such elegance and richness, with a beautiful plump mouthfeel. Every once in a while I taste a wine from the Okanagan that has a signature Okanagan terroir flavour of dark chocolate and leather with stewed dark berries, and this one has it. It was a special bottle. I hope yours is as good!

An initial funky awesome nose of cabbage, gradually replaced by red fruit, cigar box and meat. Not sure what kind of meat, but it smells angry. The mid-palette says it can lay down for a bit more, but I like wrestling with this type of beast. The tannin content balanced with the fruit might be my favourite part of this wine. It’s glorious and violent. Great acidity, held nicely in check, great balance. A touch brief on the finish, but still lovely. This is just awesome. My favourite wine from the 2020 Croatian Wine Pairing dinner. What a winner!!

Not your typical Okanagan Cabernet Franc. Lighter in body and colour, leaner in body, more acidic, and drier than I’ve grown to expect. Odd cloudy aspect to its light colour. If you lean old world, you’ll like it. If not, it leaves you wanting more.
  • crowino commented:

9/25/20, 10:30 PM - That explains the cloud. I don’t know, it just didn’t resonate with me at all. I was expecting something different. I’ll need to recalibrate next time. I have 1 more bottle.

Lovely oak punch right out of the bottle, but this needs to sit a bit... (An hour later)... Ok, between saying it needed to sit and continuing the review, the wine completely disappeared. I think that means it was AWESOME! Buy some!

8/12/20, 11:25 AM - Any experience with older vintages and how they are drinking today? I have as far back as 2008, curious when I should give it a go.

Just peaking now I feel. Tannins really softening out, not much more to lose. Not as expansive a mouth feel as previous vintages, but very consistent effort. I like this wine.

Outstanding juice that will be impressive in a few years. You need this in your cellar...I owe a friend for this tip!

Please see Francois & Sebastien tasting notes below - could not say it any better.

Paired with BBQ salmon.

Perfectly balanced. Nose of ripe berry, wet wood, and whisps of smoke. Gentle but expansive mid-palette, wood makes a more assertive entry here along with raspberry, the finish lingers with wood hints, bing cherry, and dark berry preserves. I like this wine.

6/20/20, 7:54 PM - Yeah, it really does have a unique experience if you are part of the wine club. I recommend this one.

Ripe fruit and toasted cedar nose. More wood elements emerge with additional air time. Nice plump midsection of ripe berries, stewed prunes, and bing cherry. The finish is nicely bright and acidic with eh bing cherry tone carrying on to the finish. Very nice.

Fantastic rich deep nose, deep dark fruit, wet cedar, and smoked meat. Menthol notes through the mid-palette with fine peppery tannins. Balanced acidity with a nice dry puckering finish. It could sit longer I suppose, but I like the hint of edge. This is self-isolation drinking at its finest.. I miss hosting...
  • crowino commented:

3/22/20, 9:12 PM - Absolutely! The secondary and tertiary flavours are really something special. A pleasant surprise across the board.. Enjoy the cellar deep dive!

Colour matching the blood of demons. Berry, cedar and tobacco nose. Excellent balance, firm peppery structure, good acidity. Sad this will no longer be made as it is. It was great while it lasted, my introduction to stand-alone Petit Verdot - not at all hollow in the middle.
  • crowino commented:

1/11/20, 11:17 PM - All I known is that the winery has been sold... so, I don’t know... I HOPE they continue down this road , but I don’t know that big wine will..

Classic raspberry with a bit of smoke-wood nose. Lean and elegant entry of sour cherry, very fine tannins, good acidity on the finish. More old world than new. Made for food with that acidity. Rounds out with a bit of air time and some of that raspberry comes through on the pallet as well. Old world fans, I think, would like this..
  • crowino commented:

11/30/19, 8:26 PM - It certainly has the acid and fine peppery tannins to compete with a tongue coated in duck fat! I just love how they treat Pinot Noir..
