PnP. First night it was disappointing. Tight; astringent. Got a different wine, which also wasn’t as good as I expected. (Could have been me; had just flown back from New Zealand.) Second night it was wonderful. Rich; smooth; complex. I have one more bottle. I’m looking forward to see if it is the same.

If Sideways scared you away from Merlot, it’s too bad. This one is fully of spicy goodness. Mixed red berries with noticeable dark fruit overtones. Nice spice. Only a little softer than a Cab — it stood up very well to beef tenderloin — and it drinks well younger. Delicious.

PnP after trying 5 very nice Rhône blends. Decided to try the single GSM varietals; this was our G. It blew away a very knowledgeable group. Outstanding.

PnP. No detailed notes. Semi-opaque ruby. Mostly red berries and spice, but hints of blueberries or maybe plums. Fairly long finish. Drinking well now, but the 2024 end-date seems reasonable.

PnP and drank over two nights. Opaque ruby/black. Medium bodied. Rough and earthy, but with a nice flavor of cherries and dark fruit. Moderately long finish with a bit of bite. Strangely, I like it despite the negatives. Especially with food, the great flavor wins out.

PnP and drank over two nights. Nearly opaque blackish purple. Full-bodied minus. Took 15-20 minutes to open up. Mix of fed and dark fruit. Cranberry predominates, with tart cherry and strawberry, and some anise. Fairly acidic. Moderate spice. Moderately long finish.

Splash decanted thru a screen because of possible metal from foil. Drank over next 2.5 hours. Opaque ruby/black. Medium plus mouthfeel. Dry and earthy, while still having large fruit. Earthy black cherry. Lots of spice. Hints of plum, strawberry and raspberry. Long finish holds the spice and the darker fruit. Was better — really good — with food (steak and baked potato).

This wine is SO good. PnP. Near-opaque ruby/purple. Beginning of an orange rim. Medium+ body. Spice is the first taste, and it last through an incredibly long finish. Plum/prune with strong cherry/raspberry. Very enjoyable.

PnP and drank two glasses. VacUVined and in the frig for 5 days. (Don’t ask.) Then drank remaining over 2+ hour. Opaque reddish purple. No orange rim! Full-bodied w/o being jammy. Earthy. Anise predominates. Still pleanty of fruit. Dark fruit with faint hints of raspberry and cherry. Still opened up tonight. Plenty of life left. Hard to believe this wine is 14 years old.

Splash decanted for 45 minutes and drank over the next hour. Spectacular throughput. Morphed over the entire time. Medium density ruby red. Medium body. Long, long finish. Mainly red fruit with hints of blue; but they blend so well you can’t pick them out. Excellent spice. Best thing. I have a magnum in the cellar.

Delicious. 38% Malbec, 25% Cabernet, 13% Tannat, 12% Carignane, 12% Merlot. PnP and drank over 2 hours. Dark ruby/purple. Medium body. Malbec comes thru, but it’s mellow and plays off bright strawberry and cherry. Nice spice. Really enjoyed it now, but I think it has potential for even more complexity in the future.
