flawed
This wine was slightly cloudy and garnet red (with a touch of orange and brown) in colour. The nose on this was dark cherries and something that I've never smelled in a wine before, peanuts.
In the glass were flavours of dark cherries, caramel and a surprising amount of pepper. The wine was tangy and too hot for my liking. There was a semi long unpleasant finish on this although the tannins and acidity were pleasant. I'm quite sure that this bottle was flawed as this is a wine that I have enjoyed in the past.

9/6/19, 9:47 AM - I had the same bottle on Monday and it was spectacular. Sounds like an off bottle.

I don't know how these guys do it but they definitely can put their stamp on a bottle of wine. I have had a dozen or so bottles from Two Hands and they can really extract the fruit from the grapes. This Napa Cab was so reminiscent of their Lily's Garden Shiraz that it really is quite a feat, to take a different varietal, grown 1/2 a globe away and make it a "Two Hands" wine. I really would like to taste the two winds blind and I think I will save a bottle of each for a tasting because I am writing these notes from memory of the last bottle of Lily's I tasted a few months ago.

Anyway, dark purple, thick viscous wine with a long, long finish that lingers. Smooth soft tannins, I always wonder if these wines will age but find myself drinking them young so who knows. Okay 2015 we will taste the 2007 Charlies Patch Cab vs. the 2007 Lily's Garden Shiraz, stay tuned.

9/5/10, 4:53 AM - Arch .... Thanks for the note ... looking forward to trying one of my own. FWIW - i would attribute a good bit of the results to Thomas Rivers Brown ... outstanding winemaker who is doing good things with a number of winemakers and his own label Rivers-Marie (get on the mailing list -- good wine at good prices). re Charlies patch, I haven't had the 07 yet, but liked the 06 a good deal.

Wine-Soaked Weekend at Baker's Mill (Baker's Mill - Appomattox, VA): i was really surprised by how young this wine still was. it's nowhere near it's prime. but, nevertheless, i rated it a 92 because i loved it and just know it's going to be spectacular in another decade. it's got a lot of plum skins, smoke, cherry licquer and fig paste on the nose. the palate is rich, but not cloying or hot. just filled with caramel-covered cherries, smoke and a bit of charcoal. love the boldness of this wine, but would love to wait for the subtleties to come out with time.

6/6/10, 5:04 PM - Sounds delicious and look forward to having this. I would expect this to be great in 20 years +. I am finding '77s to be in their prime
