This was the third of 3 bottles that I purchased. One was horribly corked, one meh, so this one wasn't holding much hope in my eyes. I popped it tonight and to much surprise it was very nice, most notably with food. There was some sediment but not like the other bottles, big funk on the nose but blew off in the decanter after an hour. Reserved on the nose, dry and tart on the palate. A very good food wine!
EDIT: night two this was still going, maybe even slightly better, impressed!

2/9/22, 4:06 AM - Well these bottles were purchased in 2012 from PA for the price of $25 each. PA has always had some great wine at decent prices in the Chairman Selections program over the years. I wish I had a secret sauce for finding wines but unfortunately I do not. It's easier now with most wine stores inventory online but hitting the pavement and checking out places in person has worked well for me over the years but it is a lot of time and travel. Good luck in your quest! Good buys will find you if you are out there looking.

Dark fruits dominate. Good structure, modereate tannins, mouth feel is soft, good balance with nice acidity. Food friendly and a real crowd pleaser. There are leather and spice notes on the palate.
Overall very nice old style Gigondas. This wine is in a good spot.. not need to hold.
