A 2006 Australian Shiraz, 16% ABV, under screw cap...never would have thought that I would have guessed that this was a 2014.
It is showing no signs of its age. Wine is super concentrated, opaque with no edge bricking. I don’t know what tannin structure was 10 years ago, but there are only well integrated now. Black and blue fruits with moderate acidity. At this point the finish is medium to long.
I don’t see any major signs of aging at this point and would expect this to stay in this optimal drinking window for another 10 years.

Surprised by the freshness of this 12 year old Sonoma Pinot. Appearance and the nose suggest a young wine. This is my last bottle but wish I had more to see how it evolves over the next 10 years

Wines like this remind me of why love California cabernet blends. Dark fruit and spice on the nose. A nice plush mouth-feel with fine, well integrated tannins. Blueberry, blackberry and a hint of cassis combined with some vanilla and spice. Still in primary phase although getting close to secondary cabernet characteristics. Enough acidity to prolong life.
Great wine now and for 10 plus years. Don’t expect it to get considerably better but will drink well for 10’yewrs or more.
I wish I had more to try later.

No signs of aging in the glass. Deep, dark, and concentrated. Medium to full body. A touch spicy on the nose. Dark fruits, baking spice, anise, and mocha flavors. Tannins are present but fine and integrated. A pleasure to drink now but has the goods to improve and last/improve in the cellar for 10 years

A fine wine in a difficult vintage in Napa. A medium body wine with blackberry fruit. Some cedar and forest floor as well. A fine wine now and for a couple of years. I don't think that this will improve with more cellar time. This is my first experience with this wine (not at the winery) so my assessment may be a bit off.

My first experience with this vintage. Still very youthful and energetic. Oak is present but muted. Blackberry, blueberry, hints of cassis, baking spice and Forrest floor. Is in a wonderful place to drink now. Should be able to stay in ideal window for 5-8 years. Will develop secondary Cabernet flavors in that time. Have a handful more of these and will drink over the next 10 years

I last had this wine in 2015. I was concerned that it might be past it’s prime in 2019.
I was pleasantly surprised by the youthful nature of this wine. Had I tasted it blind I would have guessed 2010 or 2012.
I don’t think that this is past its prime in any way. In fact this is frankly youthful at this point. In that this has at least 10 years at peak.

This is drinking great now, smooth and well integrated without a tannic punch. Blackberry, baking spice; mocha, and a hint of forest floor. Not showing signs of 12 years post vintage. Don’t think that this will get much better going forward but should cruise in this drinking window for 5-7 more years.

Had this back in 2012 and questioned the QPR at $75. I was so wrong about that. I also questioned the longevity of this wine.
This has outperformed that price and the aging expectations many times over.
Still in a great place with well integrated tannins. Blackberry, cassis and anise predominatel.
Won’t go for 15 years but will be outstanding for 5-8 more years. Have 1 more bottle. Will try to wait for a few more years.

Bought from WineAccess because of my appreciation of Julien Fayard’s winemaking. Outstanding QPR at $43. Surprised at the deep garnet color (not surprised to learn that there are small amounts of Petit Verdot and Petite Sirah).
Dark fruits and spice on the nose. Silky texture with well integrated tannins. Blackberry, plum, cassis, baking spices, and a hint of vanilla on the palate. Medium finish. Paired well with Buffalo burgers. Can’t wait to have this again although would like to let it rest for a year or two to see where is goes.

So many 2011 Napa cabs are lacking concentration and body. This is not one of them. Caymus’ vast vineyard sources allow them to make an extremely consistent cab, despite significant vintage variation. I am sitting on many high-priced 2011 Napa cabs hoping that they will out-perform the vintage. Of the 2011s that I have tasted this far this wine is the best.

From magnum at group dinner at The Circular. Also had 2007 Frazier Momento from Magnum. Both wines are spectacular but I would give the slight edge to this Justice wine because of its restraint. Medium to full body with red fruits, spice, well integrated oak, and a hint of vanilla. Acidity made it fresher than the Frazier. This too can eat in the cellar for many years

From Magnum at group dinner at The Circular. Also had 2010 Frontier Justice from magnum. This wine is still very youthful. Dense and full bodied. The oak present years ago has fully integrated. Blackberry, boysenberry, anise shine with a hint of mineralogy. A great bottle now that will be pleasureable for many many years.

Rich and concentrated. Floral nose with hints of oak and spice. Mouth-coating creamy texture. Tropical fruits, butterscotch, spice and a healthy dose of oak. Medium finish.
If you like creamy, oak, buttery Cali Chardonnay this will suit you fine. If you prefer crisp, acidic Chardonnay you will not find this to your liking.

Still in a prime drinking window. Deep garnet with no bricking at the edges. Nose of boysenberry and blackberry with hint of spice. Medium concentration with a pleasing silky texture. Flavors of blackberry, mocha, spice and a hint of anise. Evolved and well contoured tannins. Medium to long finish.
Frankly surprised at how youthful this wine is given its age. May not get better with more age but has many years in its prime drinking window.

Reading my tasting notes from previous bottles is always interesting. Perhaps none more appropriate than this wine. This is last bottle for me but wish I had more. I don’t expect this to improve considerably with more time but I would love to have this in 2023 just to see how it holds up.
Not really showing signs of aging or slowing down. Still has primary blue and black fruit profile. Some secondary characteristics, namely leather and tobacco are just starting to show.
Bottom line, great now and for the next 5-8 years. Wish I had more.

Fairly typical Napa valley mountain vineyard cab
Would benefit from a 3-4 hour decant or additional time in the cellar. Just needs more time for all of the elements to come together/integrate. Could improve 2-3 points with additional maturation. Wish I had more to try.

Closed and unyielding on initial opening. Blossomed quickly go reveal blue fruits and cedar on the nose. Tannins are fine and well integrated. Black and blueberry, graphite, stones, and a hint of scorched earth. Has a hint of vanilla on the long finish. This wine is in a fine place right now. Power is clear winner over elegance. Has many years in its prime drinking window. Can wait for 5-10 years to see where this goes.

Last bottle was consumed in 2014 and this really rewarded some patience. Everything was in the right place and well proportioned. Still with primary blue and black fruits although starting to develop some secondary characteristics with cedar and leather. This one is my last and I wish I had more to drink now and for the next few years.

I have almost no experience with CDP wines so was taking a chance on this bottle that I received as a gift. Had with braised short ribs on a night when the wind chill was -15 thinking that it would be great with some “comfort food.”
Restrained with red fruit, spice, and minerality. Tannins are present bit fine and well integrated. A medium body wine with a 20-30 second finish. Would assume close to or at peak with some time to stay there.

Three years since I had the previous bottle of this wine. Based on that tasting note this wine has evolved/aged a bit. Not quite as fresh and fruit forward but still in its prime drinking window. Fruit has faded a bit but tobacco and spice have moved forward, tannins are smooth and well integrated. I don’t expect this to get better with more age but think that it will stay in its sweet spot for 5 years or so.

This wine far exceeded my expectations. Hobbs' single vineyard wines age beautifully but I did not expect it from his Napa Valley bottling after 10 years in the bottle. Really showed no signs of being on the way out of its optimum drinking window. I would not go so far to say that it is "fresh" at this point but the appearance and the nose would suggest a much younger wine. Still with primary Cabernet characteristics with a hint of tobacco. There is a touch of vanilla but no other reminants of oak. Tannins are integrated. Has a very silky texture and a persistent finish that lasts for 45-60 seconds. Last of this vintage although would buy more if I could find it. My experience with this vintage will likely force me to hold off on drinking the younger ones hanging in the cellar.

This has mellowed a significant amount over the last year (at least this bottle has compared to last). Now with continued blue and black fruits but the tannins are now in the background instead of smacking you in the face. Polished, balanced, and dare I say feminine? In a great place right now with years to go.

Had over 2 days with some considerable improvement from day 1 to day 2. Excellent pairing for a grilled strip steak on day 1 as the acidity and tannins were a very nice equalizer for the fatty cut of steak. Blackberry, black cherry, mocha, spice, and a hint of vanilla on the mid-weight palate. Finish is medium at 30 seconds or so.
Mellows out on Day 2 with everything in the right place and proportions. Could create this with a couple hour decant.

This is much more youthful than I expected (although I have little long term experience with Cinq Cepages). Still a deep dark garnet color with
No bricking at the edges. Initial nose was very floral bit evolved to plum, blueberry and smoke. Medium body mouthfeel although looks full bodied in the glass. Cigar box, blackberry, abd plum notes dominate the mid-palate. Finish is somewhere in the middle with no tannic grip.
This is a fine bottle of wine now. Don't think that it will get much better.

My first experience with Solaria and a memorable one at that. Decanted for 2-3 hours and wished that I had done it 2-3 hours more. So a long, 5-6 hours decant is in order for this wine. Had with 03 Leoville Las Cases and this was more "Bordeaux-like" of the 2 wines. Rustic and tannic upon opening. With decant it began to relax a bit and open up. Last glass was consumed about 6 hours after opening and the wine was fabulous at that point. A floral nose with a hint of vanilla. Some black and blue fruits, crushed stone, a hint of anise, and emerging tobacco on the palate. Solid finish that is long and rewarding. I would imagine that this has up to 10 years or more of life left. Wish I had another to let in the cellar and try in 2025.

Needs 3-5 more years in the cellar or a nice long decant.

First experience with this wine. I bought this 5 or 6 years ago and have been holding on to it. Christmas dinner was a great time to give it a go. Well worth the wait. Great balance of fruit, flowers, creamy texture, and acidity. Awesome now and likely has some years left to shine. Wish I had more.

Should have read my previous note prior to pulling from the cellar. A great wine but think that this wine would benefit from more rest. Blackberry, cassis, crushed stone, and graphite wrapped with moderate tannic grip. Came back after a few hours to a much better integrated wine. Have 1 more bottle and hope to wait until 2020.

Opened shortly before dinner so closed, not showing much initially. Opened up to a certain extent in the glass and with the second glass. Still tight and tannic. Black and blue fruits with a heavy dose of oak and a hint of vanilla. Mellowed out on day #2.
Best to decant for a few hours or wait for a few years.
