April 14, 2024 - while pleasant it seemed a little lacking. Definite improvement with food.

March 22, 2024 - Very cool experience drinking this one. Pnp and drank within 2 hours. Nose: blackberries, licorice, plum liqueur, wet oak, there is some red licorice as well. Palate: plum, stewed strawberries and blackberry, licorice, cassis liqueur, vibrant, leather and pepper. Drinking great! Paired it with sliders.

February 21, 2024 - Tasting. Magnum. Rich and meaty while earthy. Not nearly as good as a recent bottle. Clean enough.

February 10, 2024 - An exceptional bottle of this inconsistent wine. Rich, meaty, nicely fresh and persistent with real power.

February 9, 2024 - This bottle had an unusual minty nose. Spice also on the nose. Rich and lingering but without some of the complexity that earlier bottles showed. Nevertheless, it was very enjoyable with roast pheasant! If you have this wine drink it now while it's still holding on...

January 1, 2024 - 2024 New Year's Day Double Blind Tasting: Very similar to my tasting note back in November. This is drinking incredibly well despite the age. Really good!

December 21, 2023 - This bottle was not quite up to the last one but was still delicious. Drink up!

December 12, 2023 - Light red with pink edges. Distant barnyard, orange zest, thyme and plum nose. Dry earthy red berry and green herb flavours and a very dry finish.

For the first time this wine seems to be losing some of its intensity. The finish is very tannic and is losing some fruit. I think this may be on a very slow decline. A bottle in 2017 may have been at the very peak of Beaucastel mountain.
