January 1, 2022 - Beautiful. At Peak. Decanted for an hour, what an amazing bouquet ... love the leather and rose nose. Full bodied, super velvety smooth, tons of fruit... plums, berries, cherries, earth, mineral, hint of cinnamon, touch of oak. Great balance, nice elegant finish. Drink now or hold....but, seriously, no reason to wait any longer.

December 31, 2020 - Excellent wine. Classic in style. Well built, complex, smooth, and still a few tannins in the background. Medium-full bodied but elegant. Overall, still quite youthful - plums, raspberries, cherries, with tertiary notes of mushroom, olive and spice notes at play as well. It has started bricking, a nice whiff of leather in the bouquet. Hard to imagine it gets any better, but still has plenty of life left. Drink or hold.

October 11, 2020 - Light bricking color. Fully mature with nice secondary and tertiary development. Good vibrant acidity keeps the wine fresh. Balsamic, black tea and olives mixed with roses and pomegranate. Enjoyable.

July 23, 2019 - Casual Dinner at Nico Osteria (Nico Osteria - Chicago, IL): Pretty and down the middle with cherry, licorice and florals. Good traditional styling. Solid, if unremarkable.

July 23, 2019 - Dinner at Nico Osteria (Chicago, IL): Opened quite late in the evening as a foil to the 2014 Monvigliero. Pretty much a foursquare wine. The fruit is still youthful with a blend of red and black, and whatever oak there is here, it has integrated well. The acidity is right for the vintage. Overall, there's nothing distinctive here -- it checks all the boxes, but it's not something I'm seeking out to put in my cellar.
