July 17, 2016 - Why all the low scores? What's not to like in this well balanced, smooth, almost smokey, savory wine? Decent finish. Last tasted and reviewed approx 2 1/2 years ago with consistent notes.

January 19, 2013 - Tasted at the Viva Espana tasting.

Decanted for several hours before hand, this wine was open, fairly soft, very approachable, smooth, with a touch of acidity on the side palate. I think another year or so might actually help this wine show even better.

December 3, 2011 - My first red Valdeorras didn't disappoint. Typical Mencia profile of red fruit, minerality, medium body and a subtle herbaceous note. I saved half the bottle to see how it develops with time, but even in its present form it's quite appealing.

April 13, 2011 - Really restrained nose, but a beautiful palate, sparkly and full. Hope that all falls into place. This is one of those Mencias that points a finger at Loire Cab franc without losing itself in the comparison. Unfortunately, not as pleasurable tonight as it might have been. Saved a bit for tomorrow.

February 23, 2011 - Didn't cost that much, but also isn't particular impressive. Decent enough, but didn't leave much of an impression. Fruit was decent, finish was next to nothing. Their white is far, far superior (and more expensive).

November 18, 2010 - Over the past year i've become intrigued with the wines of Galicia; Ribeira Sacra the foremost amongst them for me- They have the pure fruit and rocks I love from the Rhone ans are usually fresher and lower in alcohol than today's rhones- This was the first Valdeorras I've tasted and it was fantastic. Tasted over 2 nights, Juicy is the word that comes to mind again and again. Stony as well- at $15, this is ridiculous value.
