May 13, 2022 - This drank very nicely. Well integrated Nose of fruit and earthiness. Good acidity
April 15, 2022 - Pleasant overall, but no excitement. Just sweet red fruit with no acidity and very little structure. Maybe over the hill ?
November 5, 2020 - A bit of a sweet aftertaste. Maybe past it’s prime? I think I need to get to these bottles earlier.
May 4, 2018 - PnP. This wine killed in it's youth. Tonight it is good. Fully ripe, silky and a little too soft for me. Lacking a bit of acidity and perhaps headed to Raisinville. Stewed fruit initially but the nose is coming around at the 40 min mark. Chalky. Dark. Red and black licorice. Cherry fruit, spice. That said, it would be great with a nice cut of meat bc of it's weight. Righteous on the finish - a burning ember of black licorice. I'd drink now.
March 23, 2018 - Losing a bit of steam. Plenty of sweet fruit and some earth / leather. Tannins fully integrated. Feels a touch flabby at times.
January 3, 2018 - Honestly, a bit disappointed. Not rating for several reasons, biggest of which is I'd had a decent amount to drink by the time we had this. It was also shipped to me and then immediately checked on a flight and taken to dinner the next day so was probably quite unsettled for whatever that's worth. We did slow ox in the bottle for at least 2 hrs before drinking. Was a magnum.
That said, was a bit sweet and lacking complexity and layers for me. Tons of bright fruit but also some sweet plum and even raisin. Fruit not offset by enough balance and finish to make it interesting in my opinion...especially compared to the 2010 Sojourn Gap's Crown I'd had the night before which for me was amazing.
Maybe chalk it up to a bit flawed in my tasting or a bit flawed in the bottle but my overall take was drink it if you've got it b/c might not hang on all that much longer.
December 18, 2017 - Drink up; delicate, characteristic PN but fruit may fade
July 8, 2017 - My last bottle. Nothing like being rewarded with a pinot that has some age on it. Oh boy. This was delicious. Smooth. Elegant. Feminine. Perfume nose. Cherry taste. Dinner with Jane and Mich.
June 25, 2017 - A brig brooding style of PN that paired perfectly with some Big Green Egg BBQ. Ripe, but still has a decent edge of acidity. The baking spice notes have become more prominent since the last tasting.
February 15, 2017 - Very nice ... hit all the right buttons for me. Aromatic with a nice bouquet of fruit on the nose. On the palate is where it sings for me ... dark black cherry, blackberry, black tea ... mm, mmm, mmmm. I don't remember our first 5 bottles, of this case, being this dark, or this good. Note to self ... start drinking this one in year 6. I don't know why I'm not scoring this one higher.
