May 26, 2012 - Mild nose with musky fruit, some lychee. Buttery on the palate, showing lychee fruit and oak.

May 26, 2012 - Flowers and honey on the nose, with citrus and apple in the middle, and some pear at the end. Rich and Burberry on the palate, with apple pie and citrus, some tropical fruit on the mid-palate, and a good pear finish.

Nose is clean, medium, fruit and oak. Expressive oak but not out of line.

Palate is off dry, touch of heat on the finish.

Palate is medium acidity, medium + body (with lots of oak showing off) and a medium - finish.

Overall this is good wine, obvious in its use of expensive oak which the fruit doesn't quite back up. I don't believe that the fruit and oak on the palate will ever soften out and round the finish. This is the way it is and should be drunk now and up to 2 more years.

Fine at $47 but undistinguished from the Napa $50 Chard. crowd.
