March 18, 2023 - Deep garnet.
Prune, sultana, black fruit nose.
Medium+ body, beautifully balanced, long finish.
Lots of black fruits still on the palate with some spice and savoury flavours.
I think this is better now than when tasted in 2020.
Good for 5-10 years.
March 9, 2021 - Blossomed after a few hours opened in the decanter.it Still has the fruit and backbone to age further.Still looks young. Try again in 2022
December 25, 2020 - Dark ruby.
Nose a bit difficult to define, maybe dried cranberries &figs.
Blackberry jam on burnt toast palate.
Enjoyable.
February 14, 2020 - Deep seated fruit still available, revealed on the finish which is long and structured. Lots of "stuffing" still. Future depends whether fruit holds on.
May 11, 2019 - Purple color with little sign of age. Camphor and dark very ripe berries on the nose, cigarbox - heavy but fresh. High acidity, tannins and alcohol. A very structured wine. My immediate impression was high quality, European in a ripe style, but way too young. Makes sense that we are somewhere on the Duoro river, but 2008? Really impressive how this is holding up, would have guessed 5 years old rather than +10. Will keep my last bottle for +5 years and see what happens.
January 3, 2019 - On 3rd evening - plenty of fruit. Silky texture. Long fruit-filled finish. Fine tannins. Complex. Doing well.
May 1, 2018 - Dark - the nose is blackberry some wood and a hint of smokiness - the palette is Blackberry and a lot of spices - great balance - medium acidity and also tannins - good long powerfull aftertaste - the wine is ready to drink - happy to give 92.
September 9, 2017 - Unfortunately not all I would have hoped for (based on some strong professional reviews and price). Fairly powerful nose, but one dimensional, mostly cassis. Palate is fairly thin, some fruit, but again lacking complexity, not enough going on. Not bad, but underwhelming at this price point. Not ruling out this bottle was below average, but have not tried the wine before, so can’t be sure.
May 3, 2017 - Rich, ripe juicy. Well balanced. Lots of fruit (red plus some pear on the nose). Fine sweet tannins. Reasonable length with fruit and freshness.
January 6, 2017 - Drinking well. Balanced. Floral nose. Good, enjoyable, though not exceptional. A few years (3/4) life left in it yet I think.
