September 30, 2021 - Extraordinary Barbera--elegant and balanced. Even better the second day.

May 20, 2017 - Fragrant nose of black cherry jam and spice. Juicy in the mouth with mouth-coating red and black fruit. Long juicy finish. Just delicious wine. At first, Amy found it too sour, but after a couple of hours, with dinner, she loved it. Open for days, it is still amazingly complex and delicious. Rich and thick with flavors of wet earth and tree bark. Plenty of life ahead.

February 9, 2015 - This wine takes you to Italy for $30. It also takes you back in time a bit. I thought this showed very well, but will wait to 3-5 years before I open another bottle.

January 14, 2013 - Excellent! Wine has always been good, with lots of fruit but balanced by acid. Tannins have now mellowed, transforming this from a complex-for-the-drinkability pleasure to a genuinely fabulous wine.

August 16, 2012 - Aromas of red fruits and hints of camphor on the nose. Very precise, bright and cool red fruit with mouth-puckering, whipping acidity; fruits get an interesting sour note on the midpalate and a lithe but persistent finish is defined by tannins and acidity. This certainly can rest for a while.

May 31, 2012 - Really good old school Barbera with sour cherries and dusty minerals.

March 15, 2012 - One bottle slightly corked; next bottle stellar, as usual. Tannic and some fruit, good complexity for the price point. Quintessential piedmont wine.

January 21, 2012 - App: clear and medium deep purple red
Aroma: intense nose with cherries, flowers, earth, marzipan
Medium-bodied+ with vibrating acidity and subtle tannins. Superb balance.
    Excellent length.

Paired perfectly with tagliatelle with chicken, squash and thyme in creamed sauce. Impressive barbera in a traditional style.

November 27, 2011 - Decanted 1 hour which was perfect.
    Purple red, clear color.
Aroma: cherries, wood, something sweet (marzipan?), a hint of tobacco and pepper.
Palate: Very fruity and full bodied. Great acidity. Smooth tannins, but present. Long length. Perfect with food.
Pleasent 14 % ABV. Many Barberas from Alba tend to have too much alcohol (over 15%) and therefore end up like blockbusters, but this one was very smooth.
In my mind, this is just how a nearly perfect Barbera should be. Strongly recommended!
