September 26, 2012 - This wine needs time to open up. Dominated by alcohol at first it eventually blows off and is very rich with ripe berries, cassis, relaxed tannins and a nice lingering finish. Drank over two days and day 2 was the best.

September 8, 2012 - This came in a easy first in our wine tasting. It is a big meaty wine with big tannins and a leathery component in the taste. This is a very dry wine with a long finish. It got four first place votes, four second and one third. It was both of our second favorite.

July 1, 2012 - Notes after 12 hours open. Color is very dark plummy purple, 95% saturated and slow, clear legs. Nose is blackberry jam covered with alcohol, touch of tree bark, light intensity. Palate is super sweet but holds up okay with some decent acidity. The varietal certainly expresses some uniqueness but can't really avoid the template of the other highly concentrated/high-alcohol Tobin stuff. The tannins are still a bit out of line and I would guess that this is better next year. 4+9+15+7 = 85

May 13, 2012 - Big dark cherry flavor but the oak keeps it in check. Vanilla and chocolate notes. Balanced and integrated tannin. Good acidity on the long finish.

April 17, 2012 - Simple and straightforward. Fruit bomb, little complexity. Over oaked as most tobin's. Dark fruit that was present was still enjoyable. Hold or drink, probably won't change much but the tannins may round out a bit. Didn't pick up much acidity so it isn't really structured to last.

January 8, 2012 - Aromas of raspberry, quince, sage and spice. Very bright and acidic. Deep, dark purple-garnet in color. Flavors of tea, sage, blackcurrant and blackberry with long, lingering finish full of tannin. Another big bomb from Tobin James
