September 19, 2021 - Opened not decanted. 1/2” clarity at the edge; red with orange and brown tint in color. A touch of smoke and tar on the nose. Fading fruit with secondary notes of summer nectarine. Lightweight in body. Fruit is thin and ends with a slightly hot and dry finish. Fair.

March 25, 2016 - Agree with the comments in the tartness. It's pleasant though not necessarily all that complex, won't benefit from any more aging.

March 8, 2016 - Poor showing. Tart. Cloudy. Little fruit. Short finish. No body.

April 10, 2015 - Several years of cellar time has done no good for this wine. The fruit has receded, and is now quite tart, and there is not much to back it up. Disappointing.

May 6, 2014 - Very pure, bright red fruited Chambollesque Pinot on both nose and palate. Some heat begins to emerge as this airs and warms, but otherwise I was wishing I had more. If I did, I'd be torn between wanting more complexity to go with the brilliant purity of fruit (more age) and wanting to catch this before it loses its brightness and shows even more alcohol (less age). Glad I caught this now to see both sides. And, if this is a taste of things to come, very glad I have a ton of AHF single vineyard gems to savor as they develop. Quite nice actually, with crystalline purity of detailed fruit.

July 4, 2013 - Quite distinctve light, bright ruby in the glass, lighter bodied, plums and red berries, not super complex, but delicious easy drinking summer red I would drink now

December 26, 2012 - Open knit, with sweet indistinct red fruit on the attack, and a firm bright finish, this just lacks a substantive mid-palate. Plenty of charm and elegance, but could use some depth and breadth. While light bodied, which I like, on the downside this is a bit anonymous. I'd love to hold my last remaining bottle for 5 years and see if it gains some stature, which it could. If so, this could surprise to the upside. 88pts.
A couple days later: More personality than originally noted. This has a Chambolle red fruited elegance, good acidity, and above all, persistence, which was worth me adding to my original note. These AHF Pinots could be something quite nice with age. My style. Upgraded to 90pts.

October 14, 2012 - Initially slightly gassy, but it blew off fairly quickly. A nice basic pinot from the AF folks. Red fruit, decently structured, and while not a knockout (why should it be?) it's a nice reflection of elegance in a lighter-style package.

September 13, 2012 - I thought this was fairly spectacular. A shining example of what so many set out to achieve but ultimately fail to pull off. Powerfully flavorful, but derives its power from pure fruit rather than relying on ripeness, alcohol, or weight. Cloudy bright pink in the glass. Taut fruit aromas and flavors, but warmed up with baking spices. Fantastic stuff.

September 11, 2012 - Opened not decanted. Tasted over an hour. Not sure if this is in a dumb phase or if the fruit was picked somewhat under ripe. Tart notes of red berry and cherry; a somewhat watery middle; light weight in body; showing heat of the finish where the tastes fall off and dry out. Fair to Good.
