September 7, 2015 - Nose has scents of blackberry jam toast, herbs and bacon grease. Blackberry dominates the palate with a touch of orange peel, chocolate and nice minerality. Good acidity and structure. Long snappy finish. Interesting wine.
October 3, 2014 - Graphite, cedar, and tobacco. Peppery with smooth tannins.
August 30, 2013 - The wine looks Ruby colored. The legs are Fast. It smells like Fig, Fig, Petrol, Alcohol/Hot, and Alcohol/Hot. It tastes like Raisin, Dust, Alcohol/Hot, and Bark. The body is Medium/Full. The wine has Angular texture. The wine finishes Medium.
August 16, 2012 - Showing age. Not much pepper, lots of finesse. Odd note on the nose, blueberry and currant reduction, oak, iron/blood, and herbs - thyme, tarragon, etc. Nice character, medium-bodied, but lacking in comparison with comparable wines. Had with a 2010 Owen Roe Yakima Valley Syrah - not a fair comparison, but both were satisfying.
July 4, 2012 - A shame they won't make this wine anymore. Drinking very nice right now. Great balance and finish.
November 25, 2011 - limited notes, nose of blueberry and oak
big fruit in the mouth.
August 27, 2011 - Smoky, salami aroma. Nicely integrated smoke and jammy fruit. A tad harsh at the end -- needs more age? Not big for a syrah.
March 13, 2011 - O'Shaughnessy Winery Tasting (O'Shaughnessy Winery, Angwin, CA): WIML92+/-
Tasted non blind at the winery.
Garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of smoke, tobacco, a hint of roasted meat, plums and a dash of blueberries. Flavors of pepper, black cherries and black berries. Medium acidity, medium to firm tannins, medium to full bodied. Drink now with some air and into the 3-5 year range, maybe 7 years.
November 20, 2010 - Great fruit, drinks big but smooth.
November 9, 2010 - Really nice nose of sweet blackberry, black cherry, vanilla, thyme, and other spice. Still young with noticeable tannins. Subtle black fruit and a ton of black spice. Spiciest syrah I've had in a while. I would hold on to this one for a year or two.
