June 1, 2016 - Pop and pour. Aromas are quite light, but it still somehow has a sense of viscosity or creaminess. The notes show some meaty green apple core, and quite a lot of minerals. Palate is indeed a bit viscous but not as much as expected. Notes are slightly oxidative, but only slightly, and as it sits on the tongue vibrant acidity dials up. What's lacking is a sense of fruit balance and actually, viscosity. The palate definitely leaves you yearning for some more depth. Finish is also similarly light with lots of acid and tartness, but not too much depth beyond that. The linger begins nice, but then it expresses some metallic minerality that's not ideal.

January 14, 2016 - Ripe apple and lemon zest with a fun burst of energy on finish. Simple, but very easy to enjoy, particularly with dinner.

October 30, 2015 - Some pleasant oxidative notes; floral, waxy, rich; dried orange peel & minerality; great acidity. Reminiscent of a much older Chenin Blanc. Very nice.

July 30, 2015 - TTTG Italy (Coventry, CT): Initially, showed some very pronounced floral notes and, on the palate, some fruity promise, but sadly it was corked.

March 15, 2015 - At Nicola. Flowery and fragrant, white fruits, melon, lemon, pommes, and a little tropical. Lower acid than most such refreshing whites, concentrated but clean, medium finish. A very enjoyable rendition of this grape.

(PETIT ARVINE Les Cretes) Mountain Wine Dear Friends, I will keep this brief as the quantity on today’s offer is minuscule. Les Cretes is a Garagiste core winery and one of my personal favorite properties - one visit and you can’t look at life in the same way. Their wine personifies the chase of Italian site-place with a climactic/harsh alpine disadvantage that actually turns from adversary to advocate as the spring blossoms fade to summer. Where most other regions bake in summer heat, Les Cretes basks in a winsome walk through the cooling breeze that blows down the Valle d’Aosta from Mount Blanc - that allows their wine acquire a character that gives meaning to the word. If you are looking for freshness with a certain robust, country esthetic (mixed with mineral-tangled alpine mystery), you've found your calling in Les Cretes. To peek at their beautiful mountain hamlet: http://www.lescretes.it/index.asp All three of the entrants below would be a superb choice for a dinner party. The two dry white wines pair with everything from lobster to poultry and the sweet wine is a wonderful way to end the evening meal - with or without an actual dessert course... 2009 Les Cretes Chardonnay “Cuvee Frissonniere” (Valle d'Aosta) - Here is Ian d’Agata’s review of last year’s 2008 but the 2009 is cut from a strikingly similar mold. 100% Chardonnay treated to the harsh realities of alpine living – will be a palate and eye-opener for many of you – think St. Aubin or possibly Meursault grown under the cable car at Courmayeur: 2009 Les Cretes Petit Arvine (Valle d'Aosta) - (this wine is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for expression of mountain terroir – Belluard fans take note...) 2006 Les Cretes Les Abeilles (Valle d'Aosta) 375ml - (mountain dessert wine - can you say “crystal clear” expression? Talk about precision and nothing heavy in sight...wow) All are EXTREMELY LIMITED – please give us your maximum number of each and we will allocate accordingly To order: nicki@garagistewine.com This parcel is set to arrive shortly – it is not a long-term pre-arrival (please check OARS for local pick-up after May 1st). It will ship during the Spring shipping season (mid-May/weather permitting). Out of state orders will be held for free under ideal storage conditions (56 degrees/70%humidity) until shipping is possible. Locals may pick up at their leisure.
