  (PETIT ARVINE Les Cretes) Mountain Wine Dear Friends, I will keep this brief as the quantity on today’s offer is minuscule. Les Cretes is a Garagiste core winery and one of my personal favorite properties - one visit and you can’t look at life in the same way. Their wine personifies the chase of Italian site-place with a climactic/harsh alpine disadvantage that actually turns from adversary to advocate as the spring blossoms fade to summer. Where most other regions bake in summer heat, Les Cretes basks in a winsome walk through the cooling breeze that blows down the Valle d’Aosta from Mount Blanc - that allows their wine acquire a character that gives meaning to the word. If you are looking for freshness with a certain robust, country esthetic (mixed with mineral-tangled alpine mystery), you've found your calling in Les Cretes. The two dry white wines pair with everything from lobster to poultry and the sweet wine is a wonderful way to end the evening meal - with or without an actual dessert course... 2009 Les Cretes Chardonnay “Cuvee Frissonniere” (Valle d'Aosta) - Here is Ian d’Agata’s review of last year’s 2008 but the 2009 is cut from a strikingly similar mold. 100% Chardonnay treated to the harsh realities of alpine living – will be a palate and eye-opener for many of you – think St. Aubin or possibly Meursault grown under the cable car at Courmayeur: 2009 Les Cretes Petit Arvine (Valle d'Aosta) - (this wine is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for expression of mountain terroir – Belluard fans take note...) 2006 Les Cretes Les Abeilles (Valle d'Aosta) 375ml - (mountain dessert wine - can you say “crystal clear” expression?
