October 8, 2023 - Sunday Northern Rhône Survey (San Francisco): Deeper ruby than the 2010. More high toned green perfume. Also chocolatey and relatively rich, but this is less harmonious than the younger vintage because of some VA, tart citric acidity, and grainier tannins. Delicious still but definitely less open and more finishing bite. I had a better bottle earlier this year that by memory was closer in style and quality to the 2010. Slightly off today? Now closed? At any rate, this needs more time than its younger stablemate.
March 27, 2023 - A Taste of Aspen; 3/27/2023-3/29/2023: Given 4 hours of air before pouring. Deep, almost opaque ruby. Forward scents of blackberry jam and herbs, smoke, and later, blueberry. Powerful, dense, and saline with great framing acidity, earth, and moderate tannins. Unbelievably impressive, youthful, and vigorous-I easily could have called it Cornas blind. This may take another 15 to 20 years to fully blossom.
The next day the fruit is even sweeter, and now it has some citrus peel as well. Marvelous.
September 5, 2022 - Fresh, elegant, refined, and sensuous, the wine is packed with layers of flowers, smoke, and sweet, ripe, elevated kirsch, the wine ends with length, purity, and energy. This has entered its prime time drinking window. Drink from 2022-2040.

July 16, 2021 - Deep ruby color.
Violet, plum, black cheerry, licorice.
Scented and concentrated.
March 28, 2021 - Dark fruited nose with violets, black berries, and black olives. Medium acidity with lots of tannins and more dark berries, cherries, savory notes, and violets on the palate. Good finish. A very pleasant and high quality wine. I don't think it's showing everything it has at this point (especially not on the nose, which seemed quite muted) and would hold on at least 5 more years. Having said that, I've never been wowed by Rostaing, not sure what it is...
February 19, 2021 - Purchased 2016, perfect cork and fill. Dark red to rim. Opens up after an hour with a nice mix of dark fruits, leather, game, smoke. Medium body, ripe lush fruit, good acidity and tannins, well balanced, medium-long finish. Excellent.
July 17, 2020 - Purchased 2016, perfect cork and fill. Dark red to rim. Nose a bit reductive and shy at first, but opens up nicely after an hour with a complex mix of dark fruits, leather, game, smoke. Medium body, ripe lush fruit, good acidity and tannins , it’s well balanced, medium-long finish. Excellent stuff, should drink well for at least another decade.
January 29, 2020 - From a Coravin pour without proper aeration. Smoke, meat, bacon, blood, iron, blueberries i e a really complex nose that grows over the one hour it sat in the glass. Nice mineral drive and lovely taste and length. Delicate with good acidity level. Drinks very well now but should have been kept in storage for longer.
December 27, 2019 - Marvellous stuff. A total baby though. Leather, smoked meat, not over extracted at all. Great balance and ripe
fruit to the fore. It just needs time. 4-5 years and I bet it’s a 95-96 point wine.
