April 10, 2022 - Similar to previous notes. I forgot it was Macvin and was surprised to say the least. Very sweet for Macvin, almost raisiny like PX.

January 2, 2021 - Pretty funky nose - dried hay, yeasty dough, musty orange rind, dried figs and honey on the nose. The marc does come through with that play-doh/gasoline smell you get with grappa. Initially light on the palate than expected but as you swirl it in your mouth, it fills with flavors of golden raisins and marzipan. Long, lingering hazelnut finish. I wasn't sure how it would be received with the group and I can see this might not be for everyone but it turned out to be a hit!

January 31, 2019 - I have to admit, I’m really kinda digging the macvins. Interesting and complex, but not pricey. Of course, you can’t fear the sugar, but if you do, you’re already missing out on spatlese, auslese, Sauterne, and Madeira, so if that’s how you roll I really can’t help you.

I liked this Montbourgeau even better than Ganevat, which was good other than an annoying burnt rubber note. The most notable flavor that jumps out in here is orange rind, almost Cointreau-like, but way better. Very enjoyable bottle drunk over the course of a week or so.

December 28, 2017 - Celebrating Spanish Fool's Day (Barra Territorio Era - Madrid): Much better than Tissot's. Endless complexity on the nose with that sweet camphor, wet wood, lemon yoghurt. Also minty.
Balanced acidity, good length, delicious aftertaste. Superb.

Mucho mejor que el de Tissot. Complejidad sin fin en nariz con esa nota a alcanfor dulce, lana mojada, yoghurt de limón. También mentolado.
De una acidez equilibrada, una buena longitud y un delicioso postgusto. Súper.

December 16, 2016 - Yellow center, pale yellow rim.
Intense nose of grapes, brandied oranges, straw, lemons, a little dust, hint of grappa.
Smooth, sweet but good acidity, citrus, some wood, lemon curd, a little mint, dried hay, some grappa gasoline (in a good way), great length.
    Fantastic dessert wine.

May 12, 2013 - Straw color. Quite sweet and raisiny. Frades into a kind of floral aftertaste. Good dessert wine.

January 4, 2013 - Simplement magnifique. Un nez d'eau de vie, de figues, attaque alcoolique mais très vite c'est doux, léger, long. Très beau et original.
