July 31, 2022 - Nice dark color - just a gorgeous, deep nose - seductive, luscious - dark, dark cherry - hints of sage, mint, etc. The nose is the star of this wine - faded tannins but still present - nice acidity gives it a juicy and long finish. Impressive here - still rather youthful.
June 6, 2022 - Nice balance of aged notes. But still with red berry fruit. Very enjoyable overall, dusty tannins, not bitter but not sweet.
March 13, 2022 - Garnet to russet coloured with a distinctive clay rim. Wonderful nose of delicate red and white petals that are spring fresh. Followed by lots of light red fruit such as raspberries and ripe red grapes. The red fruit continues the delicate pattern on the palate bringing a silky mouthfeel. The wine is now 16 years old and shows lots of old world flavours too like dark choc and farm notes. At perfect equilibrium of constituents. Drink now!
November 12, 2021 - Beautiful nose of sour cherry, underbrush, spring flowers, balsamic, and saddle leather.
On the palate, it shows tremendous depth and exuberant youthfulness. Layers of red fruit are balanced by fine tannin and complimented by mineral, tobacco, and leather.
The finish lingers long and clean, no astringent drying that can be often found in aged Sangiovese. Great bottle that could have gone longer and it got better and better through dinner. Just entering prime drinking window, drink now - 2026.
November 3, 2021 - Pours a dark garnet in the glass. The nose has red berry compote, soil and dried, woody herbs. On the palate there is mature red fruit, rich soil and orange peel. All wrapped up in a fine grainy acidity. A truly fine wine in a great drinking window.
July 27, 2021 - Nice solid BdM.
January 2, 2021 - Yet another corked Italian wine.
November 15, 2020 - Definitely into its drinking window. Wide clay brick edges with a garnet belly. Notes of fig, cherry some graphite on the nose. With some decanting brings more red aged fruit. Cigar box and rose petal, classic old world flavours on the palate.
May 17, 2020 - A bit jammy, maybe past prime
May 16, 2020 - Stood btl up for a day to drop sediment. Turns out, there wasn't much. Opened 3 hours prior to dinner and finding this fully open and elegantly resolved decided to merely slow ox in glass and btl. Not opaque nor translucent ruby - garnet color with lighted edges. Aromas of light berries, dried roses and underbrush. A seamless, svelte and weightless palate with supple red fruit, tobacco leaf, mineral, spice and herbs. I really like the lift, balance and finesse of this wine. A very real, un-manipulated version of Brunello, many of us, hope for. Fully mature. Ill aim to drink my last btl within the next 3 years. Not sure this goes 5 more without drop off. 13.5% Alc 93pts+
