December 7, 2021 - Monday Funday (Hawksmoor Air Street): Served from magnum. Very welcome start to proceedings. Seemed to fall between two stools perhaps - not a mouth filling plush style, neither angular and challenging. As one fellow diner said - "anyone would like this champagne".

October 29, 2019 - Fairly shrunken cork. Pale copper. Restrained but unusual nose of mushroom and tomato, a little dry and woody, but also some more typical red berry fruit. There's more of this savoury muskiness on the palate, moderate acidity and a whisper of bitterness. Not as good as I remember, but maybe this bottle is past its best. Still drinkable and interesting. Added a point because the next day it was much improved, especially the aroma. Maybe it's not too old after all. [Cork + cage; 12% abv; Cornelius Wine, Edinburgh, £27].

November 9, 2018 - Finally my first Giraud! Palish salmon colour. Smells pinot-dominated (I don't know if it is though), a nice, rich, creamy, somewhat caramelised red fruit aroma. The taste is very similar, a nice tangy acidity, red fruit, and a bit of oxidation. The cork was fairly shrunken, too - everything points to a moderate bottle age, which has suited this wine well, despite being in a clear bottle. Eventually, the aroma turns to strawberries and cream. I didn't expect this to be so good, being so cheap, but it's very much to my taste. Plenty of stuffing, and wearing its maturity very well. Great value. [Cork + cage; 12% abv; Cornelius Wine, Edinburgh, ~£27].
