June 17, 2017 - Opened three hours prior to serving.
Maple syrup and blackberry preserves on the nose. Vinegar and some kirsch liquer too. More of the same on the palate. Tons of oak too, vanilla galore. Definitely not my cup of tea. Heavy and weighty mouthfeel but not in the good way. -

September 18, 2011 - Heavy nose of red fruits, and vanilla. Wafting hot on alcohol.
Big front end of cherry, with some raspberry and mineral notes. Almost a menthol mid palate and a dry coating mouth feel. Chewy oak and tannins throughout.
I'd cellar a little longer and see if the tannins chill out a bit. -
