    May 6, 2022 - Good wine, but not up to the name or the price. Weakest of the three Bordeaux wines today, 2018 Le Puy (Emillion) and 2003 Paper Clement being the other two. Classic Bordeaux nose of cassis, mocha, and some pencil. The palate is just a bit dry and thin in comparison to the other two, especially the Pape Clement.

    April 7, 2022 - I am a becoming a fan of 2004 for its accessibility whilst waiting for other post millennium years to start drinking. This is drinking beautifully with a couple of hours in the decanter. The nose is elegant with berry fruits, cocoa, tobacco and floral notes and hints of cedar. The palate is robust showing gravel notes and the tannin still with further evolvement ahead. The finish is decent and well balanced. It is a very enjoyable wine, but a little one dimensional for its reputation.

    March 27, 2022 - Tobacco. Most certainly. And I guessed as much as Graves here, placing it in the early part of the century - and guessing Haut-Brion. Has amble fruit, extremely good balance, black berries, a very vertical structure. Still a young wine.

    February 17, 2022 - 55% Merlot, 42% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3% Cabernet Franc...decanted for an hour. Have always loved this wine...pretty accessible right from the get go...med bodied with wonderful subtle expressive Bordeaux-ness! Still showing a healthy youthful dark garnet with rose rim color...gorgeously classic nose of creme de cassis, shaved pencil, olive tapenade, leather and mint. Wonderfully creamy and silky...cool climate, med bodied ripeness of dark berry fruits(raspberry,plum,currants)...some sweetness of raspberry jam, cherry skin acidity, to go along with the KILLER powder graphite dry fine grained tannins...really quite accessible and inviting, yet there is plenty of crushed rock and wood spice structure firmness...subtle nuanced layers of dried herbs, licorice, tobacco wrapper, crushed coal, cinnamon stick, tilled up mint garden...some might think too thin and lack of phenolic ripeness...I for one find it refreshing and more of a subtle elegance than the riper warmer vintages. Just screams Bordeaux to me...and would drink this 24/7 if I could!

    December 24, 2021 - CH La Mission Haut Brion 2004
    Decant in bottle for 80 mins followed by small decanter for 30 mins.
    Tourmaline & ruby color, good clarity. Nose of intense riped fruits, concentrate of black vs red, black & red berries, black and red cherries, blackcurrant, toasted Asian sipces, a little earthy. Entry is smooth and savoury, mainly echo the nose, mineral, salty, herbaceous. Mid palate is medium to full, strong and firm tannins with good level of acidity to up-hold her palate. Finish is elegance with lengthy finished, 50 secs and beyond....93 pts

    December 23, 2021 - Classic minerality and earthy notes with undertones of cassis, fresh oregano, licorice and smoked cedar. Palate echoed the nose, with herbaceous and crushed stones from the entry to finish. Medium-plus mid-palate, good length transiting to a deep and velvety finish. Still need some decanting for the wine to open up and for the tannins to melt into the polished structure.

    September 9, 2021 - After one hour of decanting, dark fruit bouquet and raspberries on the palate. Medium weight with real finesse. Lingering finish and citrus aftertaste. A joy.

    May 19, 2021 - The vintage as a whole is becoming very accessible at a relatively young age, and this is in its prime drinking window, but should stay here for the next decade. It is a surprisingly elegant wine with a deep nose of dark berry fruits, cocoa, and cedar with fresh floral notes beginning to appear. The palate is on the lighter side and I fully endorse other notes re structure, and it does come across as very pleasant but on the simple side. That said, the tannin has sweetened and the overall balance is excellent. Likewise the finish is decent with good length and balance, but lacking complexity.

    March 12, 2021 - This bottle was superb and drinking well. Nice aged notes with a bit of fruit still showing. Flowers are coming on. Nice balance and finish.
    Fruit is still bright and fresh but the aged notes are starting to come in nicely. Elegant , smooth and fine dry tannins. Still enough structure to last another decade. . Improving significantly with time in bottle.

    December 5, 2020 - this one was a bit more structured and tannic even with 2 hour decant - was nothing like my last outing
    wife very sensitive to TCA and did not note any.
    I cannot explain the variance with my last but was very nice with food (steak frites)

    I seem to gave quite some variation in the bottles but they are from the same case; this was 5th of 12- we shall see how the rest fairs
