March 23, 2019 - From 375 this was just rocking, and beginning to show the signs of a mid-maturity Pomerol that make me fall in love. Plum, truffles, violets, black cherries, clay and pencil shavings. Mouthfeel is silky and dense. Gorgeous wine.

March 14, 2019 - Chateau La Conseillante 1982-2016: Vertical of eight vintages from four decades with winemaker Marielle Cazaux. While it might not come as a surprise that the Conseillante impresses with its seductiveness, the level of freshness and tension in all wines is remarkable. Unsurprisingly, the four best wines came all from great vintages: The 2016 stands above all the other wines and is a future star and so good to drink right now, the 2009 needed time but became better by the minute and came in close second, the 2005 is fantastic with so much intense tertiary aromatics and precision and the 1990 is in a great spot and better than the Mouton or Lynch Bages I had in the past few weeks.

TN: One of the favorites in the lineup, this wine had a wonderful, mineral-driven nose with forest floor, mushroom, tobacco, ash and smoke hints. On the palate fresh herbs, mint, candied brighter red fruit, mint, cola concentrate complement the flavor profile. Well delineated but not as good as the 05/09/16. Mellowed tannins, fresh acidity, very good balance.

Decanting: This wine was opened two hours prior to consumption and was good from the get go with a bit of improvement in the glass. A short one hour decant seems to be advised.

March 10, 2019 - At full peak, this bottle is rocking the house. The ostentatious, supple character is there. The juicy, ripe, silky plums wrapped in a cloak of truffle and dark chocolate hit the spot. Velvety on the palate, the finish is all about that sexy fruit. But I do not see this as a long term hold, drink it over the next 5 years for maximum pleasure.

March 3, 2019 - Sadly something was off with this bottle. Drinkable, but in the end we didn't.

February 22, 2019 - Was very aromatic on the nose, minerals, herbs, violets, purple flowers, on the palate, tannin was sweet and gentle, with some leather, mocha and licorice. Texture was silky and smooth, Very nice at this stage.

(Chateau La Conseillante (Pomerol)) Harvested at 53 hl/ha, and 21 years later it is poured from magnum. We have moved on ten years here, and there is a much more mature appearance, the wine showing a fading brick-red hue with a wide and soft rim. There is a beautiful nose to it, all very evolved and open, rather relaxed, with nuances of black olives, gravel and rust. Continuing on, the palate is very resolved, gently composed, soft and receptive to examination. There is no tannin here but there is some grip running through the wine, and appealingly fresh acidity too. This is elegant, and although there is a little medicinal twist to it in the palate which doesn't wholly appeal, I keep coming back to it for that ethereal aromatic profile. And on the palate, the sweet substance, so toothsome and polished, also draws me back. Lovely wine.
