July 23, 2020 - Cedar and plum, with a little leather on the finish, nice, but lacking the grip it would need to really come together.

June 18, 2020 - Served from 375ml bottle. A bit funky out of the bottle, took a few minutes to blow off, then it really started to come through after 30-45 minutes in the glass. I’m afraid we didn’t give it enough time to open up...

March 9, 2020 - From half, this was very tight indeed and didn't show much despite a couple hours of air between the decanter and glass.

March 8, 2020 - Another blue/black fruited Conseillante 90 that is layered with truffle, violets and hints of sandalwood. Ripe, silky and sexy blueberry on the palate with a payload of perrigords and florals.

The nose however was not super giving and it took a few hours for the palate to reach full song ... from half! Long life ahead here and the score reflects a question of where this goes. If aromatics develop and palate can continue this curve big things are ahead.

March 4, 2020 - The best bottle yet of this out of magnum. 4+ hour double-decant. Wonderful sweet black fruits and the voluminous texture that great Pomerols develop with time. Fabulously velvety and silky as it flows over the palate showing additional notes of smoked meats and dark spices. The finish is very complex with a nice lick of charcoal and minerals. This really needed the long decant and was open knit with full but totally resolved tannins. I'd love to put this up against Lafleur and Petrus to see how it would perform. At Gramercy Tavern.

(Chateau La Conseillante (Pomerol)) Harvested at 53 hl/ha, and 21 years later it is poured from magnum. We have moved on ten years here, and there is a much more mature appearance, the wine showing a fading brick-red hue with a wide and soft rim. There is a beautiful nose to it, all very evolved and open, rather relaxed, with nuances of black olives, gravel and rust. Continuing on, the palate is very resolved, gently composed, soft and receptive to examination. There is no tannin here but there is some grip running through the wine, and appealingly fresh acidity too. This is elegant, and although there is a little medicinal twist to it in the palate which doesn't wholly appeal, I keep coming back to it for that ethereal aromatic profile. And on the palate, the sweet substance, so toothsome and polished, also draws me back. Lovely wine.
