March 8, 2024 - This was a rich, dark, almost brooding Brunello. Starting to show some age but was in a great spot now. Red cherry, plum, leather. Drink now to 2031.

May 21, 2023 - Great age, wouldn’t go kuch longer. Funk blew off after an hour and was superb.

April 5, 2023 - Enjoyable bottle of Brunello. Tasty and fully mature. This was kind of dark and brooding initially with lots of mint, damp earth, dark fruit, licorice, and floral notes. With air it freshens up and the fruit becomes a bit more red and the floral notes seem brighter. Seems pretty mature on the palate with good density and balance. Still some tannic structure and definitely better with food. Good stuff that has a ways to go in terms of enjoyable drinking.

February 14, 2023 - A mature bottle of this wine, that after 10-15 minutes of air, was singing a harmonious Valentine's Day duet with our wonderful (restaurant) Lasagna Bolognese. The decant allowed the wine to darken and open, while separating some sediment. The color was a medium violet to a faded rim. The nose yielded dark red fruit, earth and touches of cedar and leather. The medium bodied (and smooth) palate showed lots of spice, red cherry, dried cherry, and earth. The acidity was juicy but balancing and there was just a hint of tannin on the finish. I would imagine that this wine has several more years ahead of it but is beginning to show some evidence of its 16+ year age.

March 6, 2022 - A modern yet pretty example of a Brunello, enough acidity to tell you what it is, plenty of red cherry fruit, some old world characteristics but some
warmth and a silky mouthfeel that had one blind taster think it was something from Napa. Still very good but better examples can be found at a more reasonable price.

December 27, 2021 - Strange bottle. Great upon opening, then decanted and turned dumb for a few hours. Eventually turned good again but not as good as right after opening. I am not giving any score here.

June 20, 2021 - Blind tasting of six top level Tuscan wines with friends. This was the only bottle that did not perform great. It clearly showed first signs of oxidation and a bit of a brettanomyces taint joining the strong oak flavors. The fruit was not as bright as it should be. Texture and mouthfeel are excellent, but the flavors were off. As a result, the group ranked it last place of the six wines. Off bottle? - 90 points

April 24, 2021 - Super pleased with this Brunello. Dark opaque color, bouquet of blackberry, cocoa nibs and oak. Really nice fruit, with integrated fine tannins. A touch of raisin to show its age. Really enjoyable wine to drink right now.

February 28, 2021 - A very good example of this wine which is fully mature now showing flavors of dark fruits, forest floor and charcoal minerals. Full and rich with ample concentration and complexity on the long finish with notes of dark spices, leathers, ash and smoky oak. Delicious especially with red-sauced Italian food.

January 31, 2021 - Better than the previous bottle I had - possibly because I had it settle upright for a few days before opening. The age on this was evident, everything so resolved, but there was also so much intensity and vibrancy to the fruit. What a treat. I tend to love the '06 vintage and this was a great example of why.
