September 3, 2019 - 1.5h air. Medium purple color. Very dusty aromas of blackberry, raspberry, chocolate, bay leaf & a hint of pepper. Dark fruit and dust on entry, medium-full body. Soft, with supple tannins. Well integrated at this stage, just lacking a bit of acidity to add structure and bite.

December 14, 2017 - Drinking beautifully right now, and hell of a value. We just visited the winery this week so I pulled this bottle out at home, my only one. But don’t worry, more are on the way from the winery.

Medium to dark garnet in color. On the nose there is rich red and blue fruit, along with earth and black pepper. Palate is medium bodied, rich and deep. Plenty going on. In fact, it’s drink perfectly right now. Excellent balance between fruit, earth and tannin. Finish is on the fast end of medium. Really pleasantly surprised. Look forward to getting my incoming Copain!

January 13, 2017 - Deep, extracted purple. Crushed flowers, minerals, dusty plum nose. Finely grippy on the palate, with cascading layers of roasted blue fruits, powdery cocoa balanced with acidity. Medium weight in the mouth, superfine tannins, some sediment in the bottle. Amazing bottle, unbelievable value, showcasing the best of what Guthrie was doing at the time. Sourced from the winery.

October 20, 2016 - Wow, this Calif Syrah is quite delicious. Plum skin, earthy soil, asphalt, and red cherry fruit. The tannins are beautiful, giving structure and tension, next to the nicely supporting acidity. This is really a gem of a wine, and quite the opposite of the bruiser Syrah's that are all too typical in California. Gorgeous finish goes on for 30+ secs. Incredible wine for the $22 I paid!

    September 12, 2016 - PopnPour, tasted over 2 hrs
-nearly opaque dark red stains the glass no bricking
-faint ripe plum licorice and earth
-med acidity, med weight and depth, moderately expressive juicy dark berry/plum syrah fruit and earth, med/med- tannins
-very pleasant fruit forward relatively simple but delicious syrah, still going strong though doubt there will be further improvement, great value

July 24, 2016 - Consumed over 3 nights - PnP'd - quite dark in color. A bit fruit forward but with nice acidity to hold it in check. By day 3 did not hold up well - a bit jammy.

December 29, 2015 - beautifully deep violet and striking on nose with high floral note and a spicy peppery note. The palate is vibrant and sappy and still fresh, starts to get a bit heavy but finish is only medium in length. Solid wine. Great price.

June 2, 2015 - Nice lean Syrah for the $$. Very accessible here. This is a pinot lover's syrah.
