September 11, 2020 - Subtle. Chocolate covered maraschino cherry. Burnt caramel. Palette is bland.

August 12, 2020 - Muted and thin, with medium or less sweetness, almost like a dried out ruby. Medicinal. I suppose for this price it's not too surprising but this doesn't have much going for it. I enjoy Niepoort's Colheita, so maybe I should find the 10y Tawny.

January 30, 2020 - Typical bouquet and fairly straightforward. There is substance to it, and very good acid too. Good QPR.

October 11, 2019 - A solid example of tawny port. Whilst soft and velvety in the mouth, there is a serious intensity in flavour. Blackcurrants and raisins followed by creme brule, vanilla, oak and a long spicy finish.
As a buyer/seller in the wine trade for over 13 years, I genuinely feel this is the best entry level tawny in the N.I market at least. Niepoort are an epic producer, just try anything they produce.
These tawnys require no decant, they have received adequate time in quality oak and will handle that old chestnut we call oxygen, therefore remaining drinkable for up to a couple of months once opened. (Store cool temp)

March 4, 2019 - Consistent with previous bottles. Reddish brick in color, this fortified wine showed raisin, graphite, baker's chocolate and caramel on the nose. The mouth feel brought semi-sweet tastes of molasses, coffee and nuts. The finish was somewhat nicely balanced and the 19.5% abv was well in the background.
Purchased for $13US/750ML, this is a decent entry level tawny offered at an excellent qpr that lacks the complexity and finesse of older aged tawny like the 10 and 20 year versions.
Imported by Polaner Selections, Mount Kisco, NY.
