November 19, 2017 - Fruity and delicate aromas with some eucalyptus. Light, elegant and balanced. Lovely wine.

April 12, 2017 - Well developed Musar, both aroma and color wise. Brick red with brownish edge. Not as much classic VA but more opulent. Aromas of prune, stained wood, raw tobacco, boat cabin and old boathouse. Complex body, ripe raspberry and burnt wood. Good length.

December 15, 2016 - Musar Dinner (Tim's, SF): Top shoulder fill. Cork soaked through to ~5 mm from the outside. The exposed cork end is dry and clean.
Right out of the bottle this was slightly reductive, with burnt black fruit, and some tertiary fruit - blackcurrant liqueur. Muscular and tannic, if a bit thin.

    At dinner:
The nose recalls effervescent obsidian. Light, multifaceted, razor sharp in detail.
It's lighter and more crystalline than the '72. Black tertiary fruit - evanescent blackcurrant. There's the characteristic savory tamari-blackberry in extremis. The flavors are light but etched in stone. Thrilling.

December 15, 2016 - Chateau Musar Dinner (Tim and Elliott's Place, San Francisco): Nice red fruit, slight spice; palate is actually quite youthful, fresh, red fruit, fresh acid, a bit rough tannins; medium finish. Good but I liked the 1998 better. 89-90

April 22, 2016 - Musar Maniacs part II (Pera SF): LM's magnum from the UK.
On the nose, smells burnt - reductive.
On the palate, powerful and muscular. Still tannic (medium-plus). There's an impression of dense, dark fruit, but it's not very expressive - closed down?
There's a slight hint of dark, complex tobacco and fruit, along with a suggestion of huitlacoche.
Good, but no one who had previously tasted this thought the bottle was showing correctly.

    Even so, 9-9.5
