Community Tasting Notes 2

January 9, 2014 - Not sure of the date, but I do remember the wine. Word is that TN will be the next big thing in 2014. People will want to know what it's like, but it's clearly it's own thing. It can be blended with Cab and you can see why, as it's more like a Bord varietal than anything else you can think of. It's pretty round, but it's advantage in port is that it maintains good acidity as well. It has a fair bit of power, but without seeming heavy. Reminds me of some classic Cal cabs from my youth before overripeness ruled the day. But it's not the same--it's got a little more dark cherry sweetness and less of the herbal edge while keeping the acid, a balancing act that cab can't always pull off. There was also a little fishy taste, in a good way--you'll have to work to find that--and I suspect with aging it adds leather and tobacco that are only the smallest hints. Really worth exploring more fully, but the time to act is now before it gets culty and expensive.

January 4, 2011 - Interesting and different. A bit of chocalatey sweetness mixed in with the red fruit. decent finish.
