Community Tasting Notes 9

June 10, 2022 - This wine, unfortunately, suffered from cork taint. Immediately smelled musty, like a damp basement. Tastes vinegary, musty, and not much of anything else.
    Brownish-red in appearance.

This was sent by WSJ wine club, and it’s the first time I’ve tasted a corked wine. A bit disappointed, as this is the first older wine I’ve tasted.
I must say, other wines sent by WSJ, while mostly average, have not been flawed in any way.

I tried making it tinto de verano cocktails with this wine, but even the lemon soda could not cover the musty taste and odor.

June 1, 2015 - Nice enough, a good pasta wine -- a bit over the hill, don't hold. Finish is very peculiar, very distinct taste of olives.

November 12, 2014 - Possibly past its time as the cork was seriously damaged in opening.

October 26, 2012 - String tannins even after decanting. Gave me a bit of a headache next am.

August 25, 2012 - Need to decant..Nose was dark fruit and vanilla.. just the right tannins, medium body, and a smooth peppery finish.
