October 18, 2020 - Fully mature but with time in hand. Complex and with smokey refinement. There is a an edgy component through the mid palate a textural hairy tingle. The oak now well integrated and the finish is very long. Really fun bottle.

December 23, 2019 - My last bottle. It seemed like it had lost alot of it's fruit and was past it's prime, but after being in the glass for awhile the wonderful strawberry fruit emerged, still highly enjoyable but I would drink up.

August 6, 2017 - Deep sweet dark fruit. Chocolate. Beautiful texture. The fine integrated tannins reign in this large scale wine and keep the undoubted sweetness in check. Well balanced. I detected no heat despite the 15.5%. Drink now whilst the tannins hold things together.

September 24, 2016 - Clear crimson with only a little oxidation at the edges. A discrete and unexciting grenache nose showing raspberry, cooked plum, a touch of cocoa and soil. Quite linear. The palate was very disappointing. Grainy, lots of drying wood tannin, quite disjointed and even watery on the mid palate at times. If tasted blind I would never have had this as a single vineyard wine; comes across as pretty generic. Don't know what went wrong here; hopefully just a bum bottle. Had the 1999s and they were simply magic. 15.5% alcohol suggests very ripe berries when picked, but none of that fruit and character on show here. Have they overdone the oak/wood (24 months in barrique)? It's not going to get better, either. Not enough fruit and acidity; and brusque tannins. What a disappointment. Hopefully this was just a dud.
