May 29, 2015 - Amazingly thick and rich. This keeps getting better and better!

December 4, 2011 - The Essenz is not wine. It took a very long time to ferment and then it just stopped, as the huge amount of residual sugar just killed the lees. It is 4.8% Alcohol and therefore given the Austrian wine laws this is technically not wine (similar story to the 2002 Kracher #12, which is sold as partially fermented grape juice). This means, that it is not sold at all, technically, because that would be illegal, so you need to be very very lucky to snag a bottle of this.
This to me is better than the Kracher 2002 #12 and that means something! It is very thick with notes of dried apricot, peach and tons of honey. A very very very long finish.

So funny that probably the best sweet wines I have ever drank are both not wines :-)

August 16, 2005 - The Wines of Feiler-Artinger (Austria) (Feiler-Artinger Winery, Rust, Austria): I'm not sure what the winemaking difference between this wine and the regular Ruster Ausbruchs is but there just seemed to be more of everything. More fruit, more sugar, more acidity. 100% Weischriesling. A thick wine. The nose smelled of new carpet and tropical fruits. Concentrated but not cloying. On the finish the wine seemed almost lacey. Beautiful. However, I will caution that this wine is very young and needs time to develop more fully. What a wine it will be though when it does blossom. 95+ points.
