Community Tasting Notes 6

September 10, 2022 - Colour: medium garnet, legs are medium, some sediment
Nose: smoke, cedar resin, cedar box, leather, slight cassis and vanilla
Mouth: Red currant, leather, cedar resin, smokiness, cassis, lacks some acidity and fruit
Finish: Bitter, somehow burnt, tart tannins

Not the best year, drink up now if you have any left

Bouquet very good with cedar, cigar box, dark berries and black currant some leather.
Palate can’t match the good bouquet however clear, nicely balanced but too less fruit, lower acidity.
Finish very long, but very dry at the end or even itching which is clearly the negative point of this wine otherwise maybe 90+ points possible.
Second and third day better somehow difficult to choose the correct decanting time.

Quality Price Ratio not good, would definitely not buy this again. You can have a South African “Bordeaux“ in better quality at a much lower price, sorry to say this.

Wine is slightly after peak, need to drink right now.

    Pairs well with sirloin steak.

June 16, 2019 - We had the 2008 and 2010 alongside non-blind at a BBQ with friends, 2h decant in the glass.

    2010 (92p)
Dark red colour. On the palate blackerries and plums, smooth tannins, tobacco, wood and soil. Lots of tertiary characteristics. Long finish. Textbook Bordeaux. Drink until 2025.

    2008 (89p)
Dark red brownish colour, cherry-rubber nose. Less dense, complex and veltvetly than 2010 but still a great wine. Mainly cherries, wood and tannins on the palate, rather bold. Medium finish. Drink up sooner than later given the brownish colour and rubber notes.

Very interesting small vertical tasting with 2010 being the winner.

April 2, 2019 - Dark garnet with bricking. Occasional notes of nail polish remover on an otherwise pleasant bouquet of cassis. Thankfully no trace of nail polish on the palate. Moderately complex mid-palate of cassis, some sandalwood and sweetness. Medium body and final. Tannins a bit intrusive, giving this an angular sense on the final.

Really quite pleasant overall and although I was gifted this, I would say good value.

January 2, 2016 - Deep ruby red with orange highlights. The nose and the taste is perceived before the strawberry then the predominant notes of green pepper and finally burned. The body is thin, smooth and ends just perceptibly on tannins slightly itchy.
