May 10, 2019 - Still tasting strong at the end of its lifecycle. Nose is light to medium, but mouth is still very much full of fruit. Tastes of raisins, jam, fig. Tannic with a sweet light to medium finish.
August 23, 2017 - Surprisingly good. Just pulled it from the racks and did a PnP. Best wine of the week (so far). If scoring 92-94.
February 7, 2017 - A little too one dimensional for my taste. Despite 08 being a "ripe" year, the fruit source should have yielded better results. Would not buy again.
January 16, 2015 - One of my favorite wines, a consistent high performer showcasing the Beckstoffer fruit. Elegant tannins on the finish highlighting complex flavors of tart berry and currant.
August 30, 2014 - Very nice napa wine good value for Beckstoffer fruit, and I am a big fan. A little chewy, but great structure and flavor. Full flavor with a slightly tart finish but as my wife says, "it is very flavorful, I like it."
March 29, 2014 - Fr the first pour the wine was well balanced. No spike in tannins like I was expecting. Soft berries up front with a slightly tart finish.
Another fantastic example of Beckstoffer fruit.
February 22, 2014 - Opened and let it sit for a day. Sure, I sipped, but it was chewy and tight. 24 hours later it is wonderfully smooth and decadent. Light tannins, lots of dark berry and chocolate. A perfect drink for a relaxing Saturday night.
December 14, 2013 - Decanted 1 hour. needed more time. Drank over 3 hours, which helped. Deep dark red/black with a purple edge.
Dark fruit with some spice. Medium finish. I think this will improve with time.
February 22, 2013 - Black core with thin, purple rim; new oak nose of nail polish remover, purple, confected fruit, heady, subdued tannin, an attemp at a hedonistic style, but this lacks any substance.
February 14, 2013 - Really excellent. Aromas of cedar and new leather, along with blackberry fruits and a savory, herbal tone that softened with air. On the palate, starts off with pure notes of blackberry and currants, softened by a moderate level of oak. Lighter notes of leather and spice with a good vegetal note come through on the end, and the finish is smooth, with moderate tannins and decent acidity. Very pleasing.
