January 1, 2018 - Beautiful rich and extracted fruit of blackberries, boysenberries, and blueberry pie. Intense core of tar, black licorice, and tobacco with some thick coffee notes along with some savory herbs on the end. Firm tannins, nice long finish.

October 30, 2016 - Decanted for 2 hours. A really nice syrah. Drinking well now. Strong tannins and wood is mellowing a little on the finish. After 4 hours this wine was still super potent.

October 2, 2016 - This still needs significant decanting. Luscious, full fruited wine that still seems incredibly young in the glass, and needs decanting to low off the alcohol a bit!

August 6, 2016 - Took to firm retreat. No formal notes, but this was dark and concentrated. There actually wasn't a ton going on with the nose -- not sure whether this is in a closed phase or just not that expressive. In the mouth, this was juicy and sweet. The initial tannin appears to have been absorbed, so this is fine to drink now. No formal score, but this would warrant something in the 89-91 range.

July 20, 2016 - Reached a secondary stage. Herbal on the nose with newfound complexity of taste of layers of fig, tart plum, and a little black licorice. Savor and enjoy.
