March 23, 2024 - The last of 3 bottles and my favorite. Medium garnet but almost opaque, medium expressive nose has rose, red fruit. The body still has plenty of acidity, well balanced against persistent tannins ( given the age) showing cherry, anise, stone flavors with a medium long finish. Went well with pasta with blue fin tuna cooked with capers and shallots. Great value but had to be patient

October 23, 2023 - This wine is medium garnet colored with some bricking. There are some rose elements and perfume diffusing from the headspace. Across the palate there's plenty of acidity with spicy cherry, cranberry, and anise flavors. The body is on the lean side, but the wine's intensity is strong. The finish is crisp and persistent. The tannins are still aggressive which makes the wine somewhat harsh overall.

January 6, 2022 - Opened 3-1/2hrs b4 dinner. Finding it mostly placid & open further slow-oxed in 2 Burg glasses & btl. Semi opaque ruby red. Rose petal & berry aromas. Dark cherry - raspberry fruit, mineral, earth & licorice on a mostly resolved & elegant but energetic palate. This is in a great place but God knows how long this humble Barbaresco will go? At least 5-10yrs more? I love it & wish I had more '07s. Alc 14% A steal at $23 in 2011 near release. If I see more 07s or earlier, I'm grabbing them. I'd go more recent vintages too accept these seem ot need 10+ to resolve their structure & I'd be 75-80 when they're ready :). Loved this tonight! 93+

December 6, 2021 - This is in a good place right now. The nose is tinged with star anise, shoe leather and kirsch notes. Elegant and smooth, light- to medium-bodied, with mild, seamless tannins. Pinot-like, this is an ethereal wine that barely stained the cork and is brimming with wild strawberry flavors that really blossom with ~1h of air.

August 4, 2021 - This was a recent auction purchase so I never tried it in its youth, but I can say that it is drinking very well right now. Lovely red-fruited nose of wild strawberry, raspberry and bing cherry. Pleasantly tart, with a bit of tannic bite and a nice floral quality and some herbal and tar notes. Very good value here.

May 15, 2021 - This is a really lovely Barbaresco which is yet quite youthful. Has a pretty, floral nose, with star anise and Luxardo cherry notes. Forward yet graceful, with exotic spice flavors reminiscent of Pho broth, pomegranate and muscadine grape. Quite good, exceeding expectations.

December 4, 2020 - Final bottle of 10, last enjoyed 1 year ago. Enjoyed with fresh pasta with vodka sauce.
This is lovely, just beautifully earthy and sour cherry fruit, wrapped in sweet tobacco, morning rain on autumn leaves, some woodsmoke and a hint of mint.
The acidity is bright, and tannins are resolved, and the wine has a long and tart finish.
Drink now and will likely last through 2025+...I would consume now, it is so very nice.

March 5, 2020 - Finally opened this up after having it in the "to drink" rack for 3-4 months. Opened tonight with seared venison loin and oven-roasted veggies. Wow! Rich, mouthfilling, tarry and earthy with fresh acidity and just the barest hint of backend tannins. A lovely expression of Nebbiolo and a bargain at its price.

December 5, 2019 - This was a little tight upon opening so I decanted for an hour prior to dinner which really helped. Semi opaque ruby red color. Rose petal and berries on the nose. Dark cherry - raspberry fruit, mineral, earth and licorice on the palate. Stand alone I notice some light tannins still in need of resolution but disappear with food. I could see this improving with 3+ more years time btl. One left. Alc 14% Quite a bargain at the $23 I paid for these back in 2011. I don't completely understand the producers Serra designation for this cuvee but I think, its likely a village Barbaresco.

November 8, 2019 - Ruby red with slight browning. Lovely aromas of tobacco, leather, dark florals and dark red fruits. A perfectly medium bodied palate follows through with perfumed and spicy crushed dark red fruits, medium acidity, no tannins and a long tobacco, leather and dark violets tinged finish. Wow- what a QPR.
