February 14, 2024 - Perfect vintage and drank at its peak. With many long years ahead. Pronounced nose intensity with notes of mushroom, truffle, ripe red fruits, spices, earth, flora. Medium+ acidity and medium tannin. The nose is excellent. Pop and pour.

March 19, 2022 - Still young. Secon best red of the night. Nice floral notes and lots of red berries. Expected a little more from a clos de beze.

June 22, 2020 - Good but not great. Lacks finesse and elegance. A bit austere and slightly over-extracted for my taste. High acidity, and very ripe fruit. I should probably have waited a few more years.

July 31, 2019 - Wine Group Dinner #169 - 2009 Gevrey Chambertin Grand Crus (Urbane Restaurant, Brisbane): Wine Group Dinner #169, Urbane Restaurant. There is a coolness about this wine that takes a little time to understand after the wines that went before yet there is plenty of material and a sense for the first time that here is a wine for the decades. The colour is a deep cherry colour and the nose is reserved but with time reveals dark cherries, raspberry, wild strawberry with touches of autumn herbs and allspice. The palate is dense and quite strict but shows plenty of nuance all backed by a coolness of fruit and a fine structure leading into a finish of fine persistent tannins and limestone and earth. Excellent yet still quite reserved.

January 27, 2019 - Much more structure and freshness than the Cazetiers. Dried fruit, earthy, sweet spices, some barnyard as well. Tannins are well measured. A pleasant wine a bit unexciting for a Clos de Beze.

June 24, 2017 - Jim & Joe's Burgundy Lunch (1243 Bourgogne Society - Beaune): From magnum. Ripe and bright red and black cherry with roasted beef. Seems so ripe, but also so much structure and finessed on finish. Barely starting to evolve, I think this will generously reward another decade in the cellar.
