April 18, 2020 - Saw this on the shelf and had to pick it up. Shows the power of the vintage, must have been a brawny one in its youth; the fruit still very much present, all darker red fruit, especially black cherry. Even with the muscle, it still has that Volnay prettiness and rose petal-like lift. Just at the beginning of the secondary state - emerging but delicate forest floor/sous-bois and the wood has receded to more of a smoky tobacco. Tannins are silky. You could drink this now, but it would still have plenty of life left in five years.

February 8, 2020 - First bottle was clearly heat damaged. Second bottle totally different. Pours transparent, ruby to the core. Perhaps the faintest hint of bricking. The nose is fairly subdued today of wet soil, dark cherry, old furniture, moss, and not much else. The palate is still structured with medium plus tannin and medium minus acid. The finish shows some promise of whats to come with dark cherry and soil rounding things out. Giving this the benefit of the doubt at 91, despite seeming somewhat awkward today.

September 24, 2018 - Medium to dark purple, very subtle nose of iron, black cherry, cherry and violets, round dense fruit on the palate with spice and tangy acidity, finished with a lot of animal tinged berry fruit, spice, heat and chalky tannins

Note: In 10 years, this could be much more interesting...or it could be bitter and dry, we'll have to wait and see

September 22, 2015 - lovely nose, so fragant
A bit underwhelming on the palate, light and pretty

January 28, 2015 - Wally's: riper, simple pure red cherry fruit.
