February 24, 2024 - Beautiful mature bouquet with ripe dark fruit, licorice, cedar, blackberry, wet leaves, bell pepper, forest floor, old leather and tobacco. Well developed, well balanced and very delicious

October 1, 2023 - Amazing powerful Bordeaux style wine.

93 Jay Miller - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

"The 2005 Sena, from an outstanding vintage, is composed of 57% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 9% Carmenere, 6% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. The wine spent 18 months in 100% new French oak. Purple-colored, it offers up an alluring bouquet of pain grille, espresso, spice box, black currant, and blackberry. Layered, ripe, and intensely flavored, its elegant personality is reminiscent of a top-level St.-Julien from a quality vintage. The flavors already reveal considerably complexity and the tannic structure suggests that Sena will have a lengthy upward trajectory. It should reach its peak by 2015 and remain at that level through 2035."

August 12, 2022 - Wine was amazing. Will thrive in the bottle for another 20-years +

April 12, 2022 - Poured through Venturi, then open for an hour. Deep ruby purple, with the hint of a clear miniscus at the rim now. Blackcurrant the dominant aroma, with the strong alcohol of earlier tastings in the background. Palate finally showing some complexity, with the cassis having to compete with other flavors. I got a touch of cedar at first, but now it’s all, not so much tobacco as it is flowering nicotiana (my mother-in-law left some in a planter on the patio several years ago), a more delicate secondary flavor. Alas, the mouthfeel is a bit drying now, even if tannins seem well integrated; fruit is fading. Finish is quite long, but roof of mouth rather than palate- and throat-coating. Paired very well with NY strip steak.

September 16, 2021 - A blend of five grapes giving it a Bordeaux style wine. 18 months in new French Oak barrels with features of fresh acidity from tannins, tobacco, dark chocolate, vanilla, and spice notes combined with an elegant pallet and a long finish.

    Drinking great now!
