June 4, 2020 - Nose: The nose is deep, layered, and savory right off the bat and fills the glass with dark red cherries, licorice, rose petals, violets, savory herbs, raspberries, and sweet pipe tobacco notes. There is a maturity and elegance at this time with the primary fruits being beautifully in balanced with the emerging tertiary notes.

Taste: The feel is Full bodied with tart, medium+ acidity and silky, medium+ tannins. The feel is silky and entering a mature place with dark red cherries, licorice, violets, raspberries, and savory herbs, and sweet pipe tobacco notes.

Overall: This is in a wonderful spot right now. It has that perfect interplay between the primary and youthful fruit and the next level, emerging tertiary tones. The tannins are still present, but they have receded a bit into the background and have left the silky feel be the star. While this can go plenty more years, it feels like it's right in that zone that provides an immense amount of joy.

May 20, 2020 - 90 minute decant. Dark, dark ruby color. Lovely violet nose. Delicious black cherry fruit, lots of umami, leather, tar. Beautiful Sangiovese character. Long, lingering finish. Very good.
