July 23, 2014 - Comparable to the previous bottle. An excellent pairing with a gooey chocolate cake.

January 11, 2012 - A rich blend of black plums and cherries, concord grape preserves, and deep, red rose petals shows initially on the nose. A spin in the glass reveals a more subtle combination of nuances, all defined by dark fruit and delicate floral tones.

The palate is ripe, dense, and smooth, with a balancing crispness that elevates its weight. Dried herbal notes of basil and thyme accent deep notes of black plum and berry preserves, supported by a thick undertone of black stone. Sweet, rich, and very nicely integrated, this is a very solid dessert wine.

July 31, 2011 - Very dark ruby color, quite pretty. Initially very closed, this began to open up after 30 minutes in the glass. Restrained nose of grapey fruit and classic French "torrefaction" -- roasted coffee and fresh baked bread. On the palate, sweet concord grape jelly, with black pepper and blueberry emerging with air. Shortish but pleasing sweet berry finish. The alcohol is warm but in fine balance, and this is not too heavy, sweet or syrupy. Minimal acidity and light tannins, just enough structure to make for nice drinking right now, although I would not be in a hurry to drink these. Surprisingly, this wine charmed me with its light, clean and classical profile. Nice value. Paired nicely with sweet chocolate. From 500ml bottle.

March 4, 2011 - Raisin and stewed prunes with savory spices. Heavy and hot on the palate. Lacking acidity and elegance.

December 9, 2010 - Kermit The Importer (Wine Exchange - Orange, CA): Quite oxidative and tawny in style here with aromas of caramel, nuts, and raisins. More of the same on the palate with a thick brown ale texture and flavors of raisins, prunes, and dried fruits. Not quite my style but well made. 86
