June 4, 2023 - This has mellowed out a bit past the explosive, dynamite performance of my last bottle but still has plenty of youth and freshness to give a counterpoint to that pungent, earth-and-tobacco scented cab franc personality. Its color is losing some saturation but still holding on to a vivid ruby hue. The fruit combines sweet cassis with snappy cranberry with a savory kick like it had been licked by charcoal flames and a texture that's gotten pretty streamlined and borderline pinot-like with time in the bottle.

December 22, 2021 - Perfect Loire Franc. Edgy, a touch of brett, plenty of fruit and spice, but the age has calmed it down. Drink this now.

December 17, 2019 - Dark fruit (strong cherry), nice pepper, nice floral, nice spice, smooth, slight olive. Lingering finish.

August 21, 2018 - P&p; drinking pretty well right away but continues to unfold with some air in the bottle. Aromas of cherrylike fruit, black pepper, light jalapeƱo, dusty earth, and light coffee/oak; characterful and attractive. Similar flavors, good fruit along with plenty else going on, juicy and lively. Good acidity. Firm grippy tannins, not fully integrated but not a problem either. Good stuff; plenty of character and typicity, and just plain tasty. Seems like drink or hold.

Day 2 (stored refrigerated in a half-bottle and brought back to cellar temp): Has gained some pungency, depth and cohesion, drinking quite well.
