Community Tasting Notes 5

March 12, 2015 - Coming into itself with secondary notes starting to pick up. That is a very complex wine on the nose actually. Palate is a bit simple but in that lunch-Burgundy kinda goodness way. Just opened too.

February 4, 2015 - Look at the size of that cork!
Funny... and for all its size and girth, its corked.
Great mid palate though. Finishes on cardboard.

March 17, 2013 - Still way too young. Taste next bottle late 2014, but do not expect it to be on top for another 3-4 years.

May 7, 2012 - Right on opening, this had lovely aromatics of light cherries and strawberries intertwined with a slight herbal hint that I almost always get from Savigny, backed by a hint of sous-bois. The palate, however, was unforgiving. So I had the waiter decant it for about an hour before pouring with our main courses. That hour or so really helped it flesh out and loosen up. The wine took on a beautiful weightless weight, with a slightly rustic mouthfeel carrying the elegant light red fruits and that lovely Savigny herbal note that I love so much, ending with a mid-length finish. The acidity was a tad high, but it was superb with our dishes (in my case a pork duo of loin and braised cheek). Good with food, but a bit rough around the edges if drunk alone. Either decant this for more than 2 hours or let it sleep for a while longer (say 2-5 years).

October 15, 2011 - I have been looking forward to this new vintage.

It had a clear smell of almonds and cherries/cherry stones. Light and spicy.

It is still very young and quite tanic. After decanting it three times it improved a lot. It has some simililatities to the 2008 but is still its very own.

Will probably age well and drink until 2020.

Wait a year or two before dinking.
